This Wednesday, neighbors in standings, 11th-placed Udinese and 12th-placed Benevento face each other in a Serie A clash.
Udinese will be looking to climb to the top half of the table when they host Benevento at their Dacia Arena. Luca Gotti believes Kevin Lasagna is ‘back to his old self’ after coming off the bench to score the equalizer for Udinese against Cagliari. The Friulani grabbed a point in Sardinia thanks to substituting Kevin Lasagna, after Charalampos Lykogiannis had curled in the free-kick. Lasagna has barely featured in recent weeks due to fitness concerns and poor form but made an immediate impact off the bench. The Sardinians took the lead when Lykogiannis confirmed his prowess from set-plays, especially for a defender. Alessio Cragno and Juan Musso were both alerts with important saves, but Lasagna came off the bench and within moments had snatched the equalizer.
Mato Jajalo, Stefano Okaka, and Bram Nuytinck are all sidelined with injuries, while Fernando Forestieri is rated doubtful for the game. Rodrigo Becau could be rested as he currently has four yellow cards to his name, and should he earn a fifth on Wednesday, he will go on to miss the trip to Juventus on Sunday. Thomas Ouwejan and Sebastien De Maio are both long-term absentees and will both be missing once again.
Udinese (3-5-2): Juan Musso; Samir Santos, Kevin Bonifazi, Rodrigo Becao; Marvin Zeegelaar, Roberto Pereyra, Rodrigo De Paul, Rolando Mandrangora, Jens Larsen; Kevin Lasagna, Ignacio Pussetto
Pippo Inzaghi saw Benevento’s 2-0 victory over relegation rivals Genoa as ‘a show of maturity’ and a ‘real turning point.’ Le Streghe was already mid-table and this result further consolidated their cushion from the drop zone. “We mustn’t get big-headed, because we know where we’ve come from and have to keep our feet on the ground,” the coach told the media. Gianluca Caprari’s free-kick wasn’t far over the bar, but the spectacular Shomurodov volley from the edge of the area was only matched by an even better Lorenzo Montipò one-handed save to push it out of the far bottom corner. Benevento had every reason to be furious with the referee just before half-time, as Lukas Lerager seemed to trip Caprari in the penalty area, but both the official on the pitch and in the VAR booth waved play on. The hosts did eventually get their deserved goal with Roberto Insigne, who burst forward down the right, rode an Andrea Masiello tackle in the box, and cut inside to curl left-footed across the goalkeeper into the far corner. In the final minute, Marco Sau was tripped in the area by Andrea Masiello and Sau converted the resulting penalty to seal the result.
Pasquale Schiattarella will serve the last game of his suspension, with Luca Caldirola, Christian Maggio, and Massimo Volta missing the game through injury. Iago Falque is also set to miss out after suffering a calf injury in training.
Benevento (4-2-3-1): Lorenzo Motipo; Federico Barba, Alessandro Tuia, Kamil Glik, Gaetano Letizia; Riccardo Improta, Artur Ionita, Perparim Hetemaj; Roberto Insigne, Gianluca Caprari; Gianluca Lapadula

Udinese must be the favorite to win this match after a streak of good performances that didn’t get the reward in a win. Benevento is rising but Friulani could snatch this home win.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
