Both Udinese and Bologna are virtually safe from the threat of relegation, needing only a point to be sure. Read our reasons for Udinese vs Bologna prediction and betting tips.
The Friulani are grieving after fumbling a lead to lose 2-1 to Juventus, especially as for the fifth game in a row they gave away a needless penalty to spark the comeback. Udinese director Pierpaolo Marino accused Juventus chief Fabio Paratici of trying to ‘intimidate’ and ‘influence’ the referee during game. The Friulani had been leading 1-0 until a late comeback with a penalty for Rodrigo De Paul’s handling offence and Cristiano Ronaldo header. There were ugly scenes at half-time when Juve director Paratici was standing at the entrance to the players’ tunnel and filmed shouting at referee Daniele Chiffi.
He was protesting that the half-time whistle had been blown without any stoppages, but it seemed somewhat extreme, as well as part of a pattern of behaviour from Paratici this season. “I am angry because my team put in a great performance and I am here to protect their hard work,” Marino told the media. “The Ronaldo free kick that led to the penalty should’ve been a free kick in Udinese’s favour instead. I am a veteran of football, so I’ve seen before those who cling to complaining over the lack of first half stoppages to intimidate the referee. Then after that, the referee can give a penalty for a free kick that was non-existent. It’s Juan Cuadrado who fouls Jens Stryger-Larsen, not the other way round. It was a blatant error and cannot be ignored. I believe the referee was influenced by this verbal assault on Chiffi at half-time by the Juve directors, staff, coaches and players. The way they were behaving, it was as if they’d lost because there weren’t 40 seconds of stoppages. This sort of thing belongs to a football of another era. I spoke out against it then and I’ll speak out against it now.”

Bologna are coming off a 3-3 thriller with Fiorentina, which saw an historic Rodrigo Palacio hat-trick, as he was the oldest player to achieve a triple in Serie A. Sinisa Mihajlovic hailed 20-year-old Emanuel Vignato for three assists on Rodrigo Palacio’s hat-trick as Bologna held Fiorentina 3-3. The Rossoblu fought back repeatedly from a Dusan Vlahovic brace and Giacomo Bonaventura volley, with 39-year-old Palacio’s hat-trick. “We did well, scoring three great goals. They didn’t even have four shots on target and still scored three times,” Mihajlovic told the media. “At the end of the day it was a draw and that’s right. We were penalised by some refereeing decisions, but I don’t want to get into those.”
Vignato is half Palacio’s age, but provided three assists in this afternoon’s match. “Vignato is an excellent young player. I said that I cannot believe someone like him is not playing for the Italy Under-21 team and hope the coach realises that he ought to be there. Vignato is improving steadily and can do really well. You need quality players in order to win games. It wasn’t easy for Vignato today, as he didn’t have much space to move, but he still timed the passes wonderfully. I don’t need him to play it simple, I want him to take risks, for him to take responsibility and let his ideas run wild.”
Bologna (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; De Silvestri, Danilo, Soumaoro, Tomiyasu; Schouten, Svanberg; Orsolini, Soriano, Barrow; Palacio
Suspended: None
Injured: Santander, Hickey, Medel, Dominguez

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
