Udinese is still comfortably mid-table, despite the recent downturn in results, but Torino faces a fight to the bitter end to avoid relegation. Read our reasons for Udinese vs Torino prediction and betting tips.
The Friulani managed one point from the last three rounds, although they included narrow defeats to Lazio and Atalanta. They are currently on 33 points, 11 clear of the drop zone, thanks to a surge at the start of 2021. Luis Muriel bagged a brace before Duvan Zapata’s goal, but Udinese kept Atalanta on their toes until the final whistle in a five-goal thriller. It was tricky to play under driving rain and occasional hail in Bergamo, but the pitch held up remarkably well. Luis Muriel went on a slalom to set up Duvan Zapata, finishing just wide of the near post, then a shot was deflected. After 20 minutes of constant pressure, Atalanta broke the deadlock when Muriel won back the ball, then combined with Matteo Pessina for a low drive that squirmed through Juan Musso’s legs from just inside the penalty area.
Musso did better when flying to palm away a Ruslan Malinovskyi scorcher, but then moments later Muriel ran onto Malinovskyi’s through ball, with one-touch managed to send Kevin Bonifazi to ground, dribbled around Musso, and deposited into an empty net. It still wasn’t over, as Udinese got on the scoresheet too. Nahuel Molina got past Robin Gosens and rolled across from the right, where Roberto Pereyra swept into the near bottom corner from the edge of the box. Musso made a tough reaction save on Pessina from close range after the restart, while Duvan Zapata had penalty appeals rejected when Bram Nuytinck seemed to catch him on the heel, but it also could well have been just outside the area. Duvan Zapata did get his goal eventually on an inspired Malinovskyi slide-rule pass, sliding to make sure he got to the finish before defenders or goalkeeper. Udinese did not give in and Molina was again decisive with the assist, as he got down the right, cut back to send Marten de Roon to the ground, and set up Jens Stryger Larsen for the simple finish. It was tense to the very end, but Josip Ilicic wasted two great chances to secure it.

Toro is a different team under Davide Nicola and has a two-point buffer from the bottom three with a game in hand, to be played against Lazio. They’ll still be fuming after the 2-2 Derby Della Mole draw with Juventus, but the big problem is losing goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu to COVID-19. Davide Nicola said he played Simone Verdi for tactical reasons against Juventus and insisted Torino ‘believed’ they could beat their local rivals. The Derby Della Mole between Toro and the Old Lady at the Stadio Grande Torino ended in a 2-2 draw, but the home side threatened to claim all the spoils on Saturday. “We believed in it very much,” Nicola told the media. “We knew that Juventus would push a lot on the flanks, and we prepared for the game knowing their strengths.”
Nicola explained studying Juventus’ strengths made him pick Verdi in the starting line-up and claims the former Napoli forward can have a future as a midfielder. “That’s why we chose Verdi, who could play both as an attacking midfielder and a pure winger in the possession phase. Simone has extraordinary qualities, but in our way of being on the pitch, it could have been difficult to place him. I think that he could be a midfielder in the future, he has tactical intelligence, aerobic capacity and can dictate the last pass. If he believes it too, a new phase can open up for Verdi.”

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
