Ukraine will be aiming to record their first win of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers when they host Kazakhstan at NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kyiv. Read our reasons for Ukraine vs Kazakhstan prediction and betting tips.
It is no surprise that the Ukraine football team performed great against the world champions but a few days later narrowly escaped defeat against a team they should beat if they want to qualify for Qatar. Ukraine’s opening match draw in France was backed up with a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Finland. Despite being unbeaten and having earned a point against the current world champions, they could potentially feel disappointed with only two points from two games. Andrii Shevchenko is still calm, trying to figure out what is wrong with his team, lack of good attitude or quality. They had many ups and downs recently and anything other than a big win against a lower-ranked rival in the next match will be a devastating blow to their chances to compete in the World Cup.
Ukraine duo Ihor Kharatin and Viktor Korniienko remain unavailable for selection after testing positive for coronavirus, while Taras Stepanenko, Artem Besedin, and Viktor Tsygankov are all ruled out with injuries. Left-back Mykolenko will also miss Wednesday's match as he is suspended, following his dismissal against Finland. Ukraine switched from a flat back five against France to a three-man defense against Finland, with Oleksandr Karavayev and Eduard Sobol operating as wing-backs. Shevchenko is expected to stick with the same system against Kazakhstan.
Ukraine: Bushchan; Zabarnyi, Kryvtsov, Matviyenko; Karavaev, Kovalenko, Zinchenko, Sobol; Malinovskiy; Moraes, Yaremchuk
Kazakhstan lost their only Group D game so far, falling 2-0 to France. The result wasn’t an awful one with the minnows keeping the score respectable against the world champions but it might have been a precursor to how Kazakhstan’s qualifying campaign might pan out. Kazakhstan has yet to book their place at major tournaments, but they have not been serving as cannon fodder for top European national teams. They are good at handling losses with few goals conceded with their only big 6-0 loss came against Turkey in 2005. Kazakhstan forward Artur Shushenachev was hoping to make his international debut this month, however, an injury has forced him to withdraw from the squad. Striker Ramazan Karimov, who was able to make his international debut when he came off the bench against France, could be in line to start up front alongside Maxim Fedin. CSKA Moscow midfielder Baktiyar Zaynutdinov, who has scored seven times in 16 international appearances, has missed the last two games with a knee injury but could be in contention to play on Wednesday, although he is unlikely to start the match.
Kazakhstan: Mokin; Bystrov, Erlanov, Malyi, Alip, Valiullin; Muzhikov, Tagybergen; Nurgaliyev; Karimov, Fedin

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
