After a midweek rest, Robert Lewandowski is set to return for Bayern Munich’s trip to Union Berlin, who are without top scorer Max Kruse on Saturday.
Max Kruse has had a brilliant start to life with Union following his summer arrival, being directly involved in half of their 22 goals, but former Germany international picked up a thigh injury in last week’s 3-1 derby loss at Hertha Berlin and is out until the New Year. Union is the joint-second highest scorers in this season's Bundesliga with 22 goals. On average, they are finding the net with every sixth shot on goal. Kruse has had a hand in 11 of them, scoring six and assisting five. Andrich is next on the list with three goals, followed by Taiwo Awoniyi, Joel Pohjanpalo, and Cedric Teuchert (all two goals). Only Bayern has scored more than Union, but the Berlin club has the better defense, conceding 14 times in 10 games.
That defeat was the first for them since the opening matchday against Augsburg, with their eight-game unbeaten run seeing them climb up to sixth in the table and dismiss any concerns of second-season syndrome. Another casualty of that derby setback was midfielder Robert Andrich, who was sent off in the first half and serves the first part of a three-game suspension. With the vastly experienced Christian Gentner battling back from a calf injury, Sebastian Griesbeck is expected to fill in, while Sheraldo Becker is a likely replacement for Kruse in the attack, adding the kind of pace that has often troubled the champions this season.
Union: Luthe - Friedrich, Knoche, Ryersen - Trimmel (c), Griesbeck, Prömel, Lenz - Ingvartsen, Bülter - Awoniyi
Out: Andrich (suspended), Kruse (thigh), Pohjanpalo (ankle), Schlotterbeck (thigh)
Doubtful: Hübner (groin), Gentner (calf), Ujah (knee)
Coach: Urs Fischer
Bayern was in European action during the week as they beat Lokomotiv Moscow 2-0 to round off their UEFA Champions League group stage. Also, top in the Bundesliga, Hansi Flick’s treble winners are only a point clear of Bayer Leverkusen coming into Matchday 11 and will be glad to have a rested Lewandowski to help fend off the challengers as the Munich club make only their second visit to the Stadion an der Alten Försterei. Alphonso Davies made his return from an ankle injury against Lokomotiv, but will likely have to settle for a place on the bench as he recovers full fitness. Further absentees in central midfield mean options are limited, with Leon Goretzka and Marc Roca set to occupy the double pivot. David Alaba was also given a break on Wednesday and should slot back into the defense, most likely in his now customary center-back position after playing at left-back in the 3-3 draw with RB Leipzig.
Bayern has scored a club record 34 goals after 10 matches. Sixteen against at this period is high for a Bundesliga leader. Lewandowski has scored once in each of his two Bundesliga appearances against Union. He needs two more to reach 250 Bundesliga goals. Müller is the only outfield player at Bayern to have started every league game so far this season. He has scored six goals, whilst covering more ground and winning more challenges than any of his teammates.
Bayern: Neuer (c) - Pavard, Boateng, Alaba, Hernandez - Goretzka, Roca - Gnabry, Müller, Coman - Lewandowski
Out: Kimmich (knee), Martinez (thigh)
Doubtful: Davies (ankle), Tolisso (muscular)
Coach: Hansi Flick

Few teams in the world can cope with Bayern at this moment. Away win is not the only but surely is the most reasonable betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
