Silas Wamangituka is sidelined, but Sasa Kalajdzic is enjoying a rich vein of scoring form ahead of VfB Stuttgart's trip to Union Berlin on Saturday. Read our reasons for Union Berlin vs Stuttgart prediction and betting tips.
Union's own star man Max Kruse has scored four times in six games since returning from a 12-game absence on Matchday 23, taking him on to 10 goals for the campaign. With a further five assists, the former Germany international is out on his own as Union's most potent attacking force and league-wide has to be a candidate for the signing of the season. Only Bayern have scored more headed goals this season than Union’s 12. Marcus Ingvartsen will be quietly confident of earning a recall to the starting line-up after netting a late equalizer from the bench in last Saturday's 1-1 draw at Bayern Munich, meanwhile. Japan international winger Keita Endo could be the man to make way, with Slavia Prague loanee Petar Musa currently head coach Urs Fischer's preference in the lone striker's role, despite a nine-match wait for his first Bundesliga goal. Captain Christopher Trimmel is expected to play despite breaking his nose last weekend.
Union: Luthe - Friedrich, Knoche, Schlotterbeck - Trimmel (c), Andrich, Prömel, Lenz - Ingvartsen, Kruse - Musa
Out: Becker (ankle), Dajaku (foot), Ujah (knee)
Doubtful: Awoniyi (thigh), Trimmel (broken nose)
Coach: Urs Fischer
Stuttgart trail seventh-placed Union by a point and two places going into the final six fixtures of the campaign. That they're in with a shot at European qualification and among the top five highest-scoring teams at the business end is thanks in no small part to Kalajdzic. The Austrian has netted 14 goals in his maiden Bundesliga campaign, including nine across his last 10 outings. His most recent effort couldn't prevent a narrow 3-2 loss at Borussia Dortmund, but it's worth pointing out that was only Stuttgart's second defeat across their last eight league matches. The other fell away to reigning champions and leaders Bayern. Head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo will be forced into at least one change, with defender Marc-Oliver Kempf suspended. Gonzalo Castro's return to fitness would free up Atakan Karazor to fill in for Kempf. Daniel Didavi could be preferred to Mateo Klimowicz behind Kalajdzic, meanwhile. Speaking of aerial prowess, seven of Kalajdzic’s team-leading 14 Bundesliga goals have been headers. Stuttgart top the league charts for substitute goals with 12, including three from Kalajdzic. VfB has never lost a competitive game to Union (W1, D4), but did lose the 2018/19 relegation play-off to the capital club on the away-goals rule.
Stuttgart: Kobel - Mavropanos, Karazor, Anton - Coulibaly, Endo, Castro (c), Sosa - Förster, Didavi - Kalajdzic
Out: Al Ghaddioui (ankle), Gonzalez (thigh), Kempf (suspended), Mangala (thigh), Mola (hip), Silas (knee)
Doubtful: Castro (muscular), Cisse (knee), Egloff (ankle)
Coach: Pellegrino Matarazzo

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
