Antonin Barak and Kevin Lasagna got the second-half goals, but Cagliari was punished for wasteful finishing in this 2-0 defeat to Verona. Alessio Cragno was at full stretch to deny a Miguel Veloso free-kick, while Marco Silvestri was decisive at the other end on Joao Pedro’s angled drive. Kevin Lasagna skimmed the bar, but Cagliari had a big chance when Charalampos Lykogiannis ballooned over the bar after a smart Alberto Cerri dummy. Verona took the lead with a ferocious left-foot strike from Antonin Barak that arrowed into the near bottom corner from a good 25 meters out.
Cagliari had a double chance to get back on track, but Silvestri denied Lykogiannis from a tight angle and then Cerri also saw his shot charged down. Giovanni Simeone should’ve done better when sent clear on goal by a wonderful Kwadwo Asamoah slide-rule pass, but instead hit the woodwork. Verona also struck the post with Eddie Salcedo, who didn’t put enough ferocity behind the finish when one-on-one. Deep into stoppages, after Hellas coach Ivan Juric had been sent off for dissent, Kevin Lasagna sealed the result on a classic counter, sent clear by Daniel Bessa.

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi has tested positive for COVID-19, confirmed the tactician’s wife. The club released a statement making clear that a member of staff tested positive for COVID-19 following a private test, taken by some members of his family unit. Inzaghi’s wife, Gaia Lucariello, then confirmed via Instagram that her entire family unit tested positive for the Coronavirus. “Hello to everyone,” she wrote. “We wanted to let you know that unfortunately all of our family tested positive for Coronavirus after a swab taken at home! “We feel fine and are in isolation, as per protocol! Hugs!”
Simone Inzaghi’s assistant Massimiliano Farris said Lazio is ‘very good at absorbing the pressure’ after the 2-1 win over Spezia on Saturday. Inzaghi was again left without a voice after the game and his assistant addressed the media after the match. “It was an exciting ending,” Farris told the media. “They put great pressure on us for 70 minutes, then they tend to stretch. The team has been very good at absorbing this pressure. In the first half, we had some chances and we knew it would be difficult to create with continuity.” Farris had no doubts about what Lazio’s greatest merit after the narrow win at the Olimpico was. “It was humility,” he said. “They come to play with their non-trivial concepts, and if you’re not careful, they will hurt you. Without humility, you don’t win these games.” Inzaghi’s assistant then explained why Adam Marusic played in the defensive trident. “It’s a calculated risk. It was a particular week, with several absences,” he continued. “Marusic made himself available and we knew that we had to alternate two forces at left.” Luis Alberto got some time in the second half, despite having feared a long spell out due to an injury he suffered in training. “He showed commendable commitment. The injury seemed severe,” Farris explained. “But he did therapy 24/7 and was well looked after by our staff. This morning, at the last minute, when we no longer believed in it, he gave us the green light to be on the bench. For us, there are 10 Finals from here to the end if we want to reach the Champions League.”
Lazio (3-5-2): Reina; Marusic, Acerbi, Radu; Lulic, Milinkovic-Savic, Lucas Leiva, Luis Alberto, Fares; Caicedo, Immobile

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
