Villareal must finish the job at home after getting the 1-0 win in Zagreb vs Dinamo in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Read our reasons for Villareal vs Dinamo prediction and betting tips.
The Yellow Submarine gained a huge advantage thanks to a successfully taken penalty kick from their top scorer Gerard Moreno just before the break-in Croatian capital. Unai Emery’s side will be hoping to capitalize on their slim advantage going into the second leg of their quarter-final clash against Dinamo Zagreb. Villarreal suffered a disappointing 1-2 defeat to Osasuna at the weekend. Unai Emery decided to give rest to his main players, including Gerard Moreno and Samu Chukwueze. They both came on in the second half of the game but were powerless as Osasuna edged to an important 1-2 win at Estadio de la Ceramica. Villarreal heads into the game as heavy favorites, especially if we know that they had been on a six-game winning streak across competitions before the mentioned defeat at the hands of Osasuna. Emery holds a stunning record in the Europa League and he will certainly feel his side should be progressing into the final four of the competition ahead of their clash at the Estadio de la Cerámica on Thursday night. There is still it all to play for in Spain, but the former-Sevilla manager will be hoping his experience in the competition can help guide his side through.
As for the home side, their loss to Osasuna can be put down to changes being made to the starting lineup with this second leg in mind. Gerard only played 45 minutes, while the likes of Manu Trigueros, Samuel Chukwueze, Alfonso Pedraza, Etienne Capoue, and Pau Torres also did not play a full part. Each of those players is in contention to return to the XI here, with Vicente Iborra and Pervis Estupinan the only confirmed absentees for Villarreal.
Villarreal: Rulli; Foyth, Albiol, Torres, Pedraza; Parejo, Capoue, Trigueros; Chukwueze, Gerard, Bacca
It ended 0-1 for the Spaniards, but the game could have easily gone the other way as the Croats had their chances through Kevin Theophile-Catherine and Mislav Orsic. The hero from the second leg against Tottenham even scored a goal midway through the first half but it was ruled for offside. Spurs were also favorites against Dinamo but failed to keep a two-goal advantage and we would not be shocked to see this Dinamo team doing it again at the highest stage. The only two losses across Dinamo’s previous fifteen clashes came in Europa League. Just one draw has been registered in the Croatians last twenty meetings. All of their last five outings resulted in under 2,5 goals, while one witnessed goals at both ends. Dinamo has failed to score in only three of the last twenty games on the road. A team from Zagreb has not lost both legs of a two-legged knockout tie in the UEFA Cup/Europa League since the 2006-07 first-round versus French outfit Auxerre.
Dinamo was dealt a blow ahead of the first leg with the news that Bruno Petkovic was not fit to start the match, but the striker came on for the final 30 minutes. He was below his usual standard because he was unfit but assuming Petkovic is over with his injury problem, Krznar will surely start the Croatia international in place of Mario Gavranovic. Orsic scored a hat-trick against Tottenham in the famous turnaround last month, while Arijan Ademi is another who has caught the eye during this run to the quarters.
Dinamo Zagreb: Livakovic; Ristovski, Lauritsen, Theophile-Catherine, Gvardiol; Majer, Ademi, Jakic; Ivanusec, Petkovic, Orsic

The visitors have lost each of their last six games against Spanish rivals and the home team looks too hot to handle for them at the moment. BettingKick’s Villareal vs Dinamo prediction is: Home team win.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
