As a semifinalist and overachiever from the last EURO Wales face the difficult task of repeating themselves in the next tournament. After the loss against France, they will use their final warm-up match against Albania as a chance to upgrade self-confidence. Read our Wales vs Albania prediction and betting tips.
Wales must find a way to rebound from their 3-0 negative performance against France and go into EURO 2020 with more self-esteem when they clash with Albania. The Eagles are solid but they are far from the European elite teams, their form across the last ten matches is decent but they have big problems when they are fighting with stronger rivals.
It is no secret that Wales has no established goalscorer and that impacted negatively on their campaigns but they are still a team with a lot of work ethics, stamina, and individual recognition across the football world. Most of their players had a hard time in the last season and this tournament could be their big chance of returning to the spotlight.
With two goals across Wales’ last three wins, Manchester United winger Daniel James remains one of the Dragons’ most potent offensive threats, especially with his pace both on and off the ball. Gareth Bale isn't in the form of his life but he must be regular in the notes of rivals scouts as a world-class player that lack playing time in the last few seasons. If Wales could find their goalscoring touch, they could be again a pleasant surprise as underdogs in the upcoming tournament.
Wales (4-3-3): Danny Ward; Joe Rodon, Tom Lockyer, Chris Mepham, Ben Davies; Aaron Ramsey, Joe Morrell, Joe Allen; Harry Wilson, Gareth Bale, Daniel James
Albania was actually at the last European Championships, same as the Welsh, the only tournament they have ever qualified, but after that, they didn’t found proper replacements for the players that achieved that great result. They are in free-fall after Euros and are now ranked at a lowly 66th in the FIFA Rankings.
On the other end, they are trying to build a new generation, and with new blood and energy, they have achieved some encouraging results, won an impressive five out of their last six games, to be honest with rivals that are not impressive, and with their only defeat coming against England. Two of those wins were against San Marino and Andorra and the other two were against Kosovo, Kazakhstan, and Belarus. They know from which countries are better and they are now aiming for a victory against some better opposition.
Manager Edoardo Reja has picked an interesting squad but also he has named three keepers who don't have a single appearance between them trying to build confidence for new guys that are coming into the roster and to give them a valuable experience with the national team.
The Red and Blacks have made a positive start to their 2022 World Cup qualification campaign, though, picking up six points from their three matches to sit third in Group I behind England and Hungary. Albania has won five of their last six matches in all competitions, while they have lost just one of their last eight matches during a strong run of form, but again, against lowly opposition.
Albania (3-5-1-1): Alan Sherri; Arlind Ajeti, Berat Djimsiti, Frederic Veseli; Qazim Laci, Amir Abrashi, Ylber Ramadani, Keidi Bare, Ermir Lenjani; Rey Manaj, Sokol Cikalleshi

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
