Wales host Czech Republic at the Cardiff City Stadium (Cardiff) in the 2nd round of the 2022 UEFA World Cup qualification games and the match kicks of at 7.45 pm (UK) on Tuesday, March 30th. Read our reasons for Wales vs Czech Republic prediction and betting tips.
Czech Republic have made an impressive start to their World Cup qualifying campaign after crushing Estonia 6-2 in Poland and drawing 1-1 against Belgium in Prague and look set to provide Wales with stiff opposition in Cardiff. Meanwhile, The Dragons are unbeaten in 11 games on home turf. They did lose their opening match in Belgium (3-1) though, but they were encouraged by a minimal win against Mexico at home on Saturday night. A close encounter is on cards, as both teams try to boost their hopes of reaching Qatar 2022.
After losing their World Cup Qualifying opener, Wales surely need a positive result against the nation they’re most likely to be battling with for second place, as they hunt a first finals appearance since 1958. There are recent positives though as their WCQ opening defeat was their only loss across their previous 7 games (W4, D2), a period in which Wales never conceded an opening goal. Wales last lost on home turf in November 2018 - W9, D2 since - while they’ve claimed a clean sheet in their last four home matches vs teams in FIFA’s top 45.
Wales began Group E with a 3-1 loss to Belgium in Leuven but were far from disgraced that night, with Harry Wilson putting them ahead early on. That gutsy effort was backed up by Saturday’s hard-fought 1-0 friendly win over Mexico, who are ranked as high as ninth in the world. Kieffer Moore’s 5th goal in 13 international appearances, proved the difference. Caretaker boss Robert Page will now recall a number of first-choice players rested for that contest and hope to come away with a win here.
On the other hand, since failing to qualify for the last World Cup, Czech Republic have been rejuvenated by current head coach Jaroslav Silhavy. They reached the Euro 2020 finals by finishing as runners-up behind Group A winners England before edging out Scotland to top a B-level Nations League pool. Silhavy’s side built on that momentum when crushing Estonia 6-2 in Poland to kick off this campaign, with West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek hitting a hat-trick.
Following their hammering of Estonia, Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Belgium in Prague was another highly-encouraging effort in what proved a very entertaining contest. The visitors are favourites to finish second behind Belgium in this section, but haven’t always been at their best on the road in the past – they are without a draw on the road for nearly four years. However, eyeing their first finals appearance since 2006, the Czech Republic’s morale will be sky high after drawing with the number one team in the rankings.

Wales meet Czech Republic for the fourth time ever and are yet to record a win after two goalless draws and a 2-1 defeat in September 2006. Both sides have identical scores in their last five international matches – three wins, a draw, and a defeat. Both have conceded four goals in the process, with the Czech outscoring Wales with 10 goals to the Dragons’ 6 in that time.
Only three fixtures have seen over 2.5 goals in these two sides’ ten matches combined, so we expect a low-scoring affair and a possible share of spoils.
BettingKick’s Wales vs Czech Republic Prediction is: under 2.5 goals

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
