Watford and Middlesbrough open their respective 2020/2021 campaigns on Friday, September 11 at Vicarage Road and the match kicks off at 7:45pm (UK).
Watford almost managed to stay up last season, but it wasn’t meant to be, as the Hornets ended their five-year stay in the Premier League. They are back in the Championship and in Vladimir Ivić have a relatively unknown new manager. They are definitely looking to get back immediately to top flight and will hope that a new manager can set the foundations to their quick return to Premier League.
After unsuccessful spell at the helm with former club legend Jonathan Woodgate, who obviously didn't have much pulling power as a manager, the job was given to experienced Neil Warnock. He managed to keep them up, and it's not entirely unexpected that he had decided to stay and maybe create another promotion miracle with a club whose rich history suggests that they can compete at the highest level.
WATFORD VS MIDDLESBROUGH MATCH ANALYSIS
Vladimir Ivić, who was a Serbia and Montenegro international in his playing career, and a manager of European sides such as PAOK and Maccabi Tel Aviv, is the latest man in charge at Vicarage Road, after signing a one-year contract. Watford owner Gino Pozzo has sent a message to the fans that they should expect a quick return to Premier League, and that the transfer funds won't lack.
Ivic is known for his aggressive style, and hopes are he can do wonders with their attack, even if Gerard Deulefleu leaves. Ismailla Sarr and Doucoure are also uncertain for the next season, but Luis Suarez, a young Brazilian prospect from Segunda Division and Domingos Quina, a talented midfielder, could lit up the Championship together with seasoned players such as Ben Foster, Craig Dawson,Etienne Capoue and of course Try Deeney, a club legend.
Neil Warnock reportedly wanted to add centre-back Charlie Goode, midfielder Joe Williams and striker Kieffer Moore to his team, but they failed to sign all three. So far, their only addition is a 28-year-old defender Grant Hall, who worked under Warnock before, but as a sole signing, their transfer activity this summer seems underwhelming.
While new signings will certainly be required, Warnock, who last got Cardiff promoted, will have to get the best out of the Boro's crop of young talent if he wants to secure the ninth promotion of his career. However, it looks likely, and the fans think that the most pressing concern is to get in the top half of the table.

Watford will come out strongly for this one, as the Hornets will try to set the tone for the rest of the season from the start. Middlesbrough, on the other hand will find it hard to satisfy the managers appetite if they don't act quickly and get reinforcement for the next campaign. it would probably be too much to rely completely on an inexperienced squad.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
