Watford host Cardiff at the Vicarage Road (Watford) in the 16th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, December 5.
WATFORD VS CARDIFF MATCH ANALYSIS
The Hornets recorded two consecutive home 3-2 wins against Stoke and Coventry in rounds 10 and 11, but followed it with back-to-back draws against QPR (1-1) and Bristol (0-0), before dispatching Preston (4-1) at home on Saturday. They continued their six-game unbeaten run (W3-D3) with a goalless draw away to Nottingham in midweek, which puts them in the 3rd place with 27 points ahead of this match. As for Cardiff, they have amassed 20 points so far, which is enough for 12th place in the standings. The last season’s play-off participants have had a disappointing start to the new campaign, but with the most recent convincing back-to-back home wins against Luton (4-0) and Huddersfield (3-0), they will be looking to continue to climb up the table.
Watford are definitely looking to get back immediately to the top flight and hope that a new manager Vladimir Ivic can set the foundations for their quick return to Premier League. Even with the likes of Dele-Bashiru, Masina, Perica, and Success still sidelined, the Hornets are doing alright, which is a huge sign of the quality of their set-up. Having lost ground on the title-chasers following a relatively poor run of form, they got back in the mix after three consecutive home wins, and three away draws, the latest being against Notts Forest on Wednesday.
Vladimir Ivic’s side missed the chance to go top of the league after a goalless draw at the City Ground. The Hornets came into the game on the back of a comfortable 4-1 win against Preston on Saturday but struggled to create many chances. Watford's poor away form continued, their win at Derby in October having been their only victory on their travels in league football for 16 games. However, they have won all of their home matches bar one (W6-D1) so far, which gives them the edge over the Bluebirds on Saturday.
Cardiff, on the other hand, have made a slow start to their Championship campaign. The Bluebirds form has been up and down since the start of the campaign and they might still be suffering the effects of a hangover from last season's play-off defeat to Fulham. They have lost some of the momentum as the see-saw results continue and they hadn’t strung two wins together this season until two most recent rounds. More importantly, they scored 7 goals and conceded none in those two games.
On Tuesday, Cardiff secured back-to-back wins for the first time this campaign as Kieffer Moore's double and a Robert Glatzel strike gave the Bluebirds a 3-0 win against the Terriers. After losing to Coventry (1-0) last week the pressure had reached a breaking point for manager Neil Harris but six points from two games have got the Bluebirds moving in the right direction again. They will hope they can move into the right half of the table after their visit to Watford.

Watford have won their last three Premier League matches against Cardiff, but the last Championship meeting between Watford and Cardiff was back in December 2014.
Vladimir Ivic’s men have been impressive at home ground this season, with the team eyeing their seventh win at their Vicarage Road. The Hornets have won more home points than any other side in the Championship this season (19), while they’ve also scored the most home goals in the division (16).
Cardiff, on the other hand, have won back-to-back league games for the first time this season, though they’re winless in their last four on the road (D2 L2) whilst failing to score before half-time on each occasion.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
