Watford host Coventry at Vicarage Road (Watford) in the 11th round of the Championship on Saturday, November 7 and the match kicks off at 3pm (UK).
WATFORD VS COVENTRY MATCH ANALYSIS
The Hornets have stagnated a little after two consecutive wins in Rounds 5 and 6 and have managed only to draw two matches and record their 2nd defeat of the season against struggling Barnsley (1-0). However, they bounced back against Stocke with a home win (3-2) in midweek, which was enough for the 4th place with 18 points (W5,D3,L2). As for the visitors, with their two wins, two draws and six defeats so far, they are 21st in the table with 8 points. The newcomers conceded ten goals in the previous four league fixtures and are unlikely to spoil Watford’s party at Vicarage Road. Ahead of the weekend, Sky Blues fans will be worried that they could see their side drop into the bottom three again by Saturday afternoon.
Watford are definitely looking to get back immediately to top flight and hope that a new manager Vladimir Ivic can set the foundations to their quick return to Premier League. The Hornets are a real force to be reckoned with at home, having won four of their five matches so far (W4,D1). Even with the likes of Dele-Bashiru, Masina, Perica, and Success still side-lined, boss Vladimir Ivic should consider nothing but three points.
On Tuesday, Watford’s injury-time winner over Stoke City gave them a massive boost of confidence, having lost ground on the title-chasers following a relatively poor run of form. Watford dominated possession but lacked a cutting edge until Ismaila Sarr scored a stoppage-time winner. The victory keeps the Hornets within touching distance of the top two and they will not want to let up again.
The Sky Blues, on the other hand, have been missing from the Championship for eight years. Mark Robins, in his second stint at the club, did an excellent job of leading the team back to the second-tier, and he did so in style. For them, the biggest objective will be to stay up and anything better than that will be a bonus. Coventry still look like they’re trying to find their feet in their long-awaited return to the second-tier of English football, and will gladly take anything from the Watford match, after yet another defeat to Notts Forest (2-1).
Against Forest on Wednesday, the Sky Blues got back into the game with a really good goal, hit the post and had numerous chances to finish the game off, only to shoot themselves in the foot by giving a penalty away (90+7’) and there was no time left to come back. Coventry are yet to win away this Championship season (D1, L4) even though they have put in some dogged displays since the start of the campaign.

The hosts boast the division's best home form (W4, D1) and have scored 81.8% of their Championship goals this season at home (1.8 on average). Even more encouraging news for Watford fans is that their team are unbeaten in 83% of the home league games they’ve played against newly-promoted sides since the start of 2018/19.
The Sky Blues will be concerned by the fact they have lost 7 of their last 12 competitive H2Hs at Vicarage Road (W2, D3, L7).
Coventry City enter this round with the league’s worst defense after conceding 2.0 goals on average per game. It’s no wonder then that the ‘Sky Blues’ possess the league’s second highest match goal average (3.0).
BettingKick's prediction for Watford vs Coventry match is: Over 2.5 goals
