The game kicks off at 12.30pm (UK) when Watford hosts Newcastle United on Saturday 11 July at the Vicarage Road.
In midweek, Danny Welbeck scored a fantastic overhead
kick ( his 1st Premier League goal after two years) to give Watford a much needed win against
Norwich, which puts them just barely above the relegation line at the moment,
with a point lead over Aston Villa in 18th place.
They haven't played particularly well post lockdown
but they won't mind another poor performance if they get away with a similar,
fortunate victory against Newcastle.
They sit safe in 13th place and their have slim hopes of European football next year, with sheffield United at 7th place with 8 points more. Their bigger concern at this moment may be what's going on off the pitch. With rumours and indicision surrounding the club's Saudi takeover, Steve Bruce is still uncertain he will manage the team next year.
Watford ended their three-games
losing streak on Tuesday against bottom fodder Norwich. It was only their
second win in the last 10 Premier League games. The first one ended Liverpool's
unbeaten run in the league ( emphatic 3:0 victory ), and they would hope they
can end the Newcastle's run as well.
The Hornets will be without the
long-term injured Gerard
Deulofeu, Daryl Janmaat and Isaac Success. They lost 6 of their last 10 games
and their two last PL games against Newcastle ended in identical draws ( 1:1 ).

Will Danny Welbeck's spectacular
goal be enough to earn him a starting place instead of Troy Deeney in the front
three? We don't know, but Watford fans will be happy if Nigel Pearson decides
to do so. They need another win and another massive performance.
It wouldn't be too wise on them to
hope and organize for the game thinking that The Magpies, with a few key
players missing, will have nothing to play for. They need to show some
creativity up top and solidity at the back. Their next three games include West Ham, Manchester City and
Arsenal, which makes this home game against Newcastle even more important.
Newcastle will come to Vicarage road without
trepidation of the possible outcome, knowing that they are safe at the upper
part of the table. However, with the club possibly changing hands soon, the
manager would want to show the eventual new owners that he is still up to the
job. Being decimated with injuries is why they might choose to wait for their
opponents mistake instead of going out blazing.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city.
