Watford host Nottingham at the Vicarage Road (Watford) in the 35th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 12.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, March 6. Read our reasons for Watford vs Nottingham prediction and betting tips.
Watford are chasing their sixth win from five (L1) on Saturday afternoon, after they recorded a 2-0 win against relegation-bound Wycombe in midweek when they host another bottom-shelf side, Nottingham. The third-placed Hornets have certainly improved in the recent weeks with 24 points from their last eleven games (W8, D2, L2), while the Forest sit eight points clear of the bottom three in 16th, level on 40 points with Blackburn and QPR. With just 12 matches remaining, Hughton and his squad will look to maintain their recent form.
Watford joined second-placed Brentford on 63 points after a comfortable win over the Chairboys at Vicarage Road, with Andre Gray bagging a brace, scoring in each half to earn a 2-0 win against Wanderers. Xisco Munoz was delighted to see Andre Gray take his chance when restored to the starting line-up this evening, feeling the strength in depth will be key to Watford’s promotion hopes. There were excellent performances across the pitch too, but Munoz recognised his team must keep improving and adapting as the Championship season approaches its climax. This was an opportunity for players to show what they're capable of and Gray certainly did as much.
A solid, uncomplicated win was much needed following Saturday’s bump in the road. The only real negatives were developments in Stoke and Bristol where Swansea and Bournemouth would both go behind and enjoy some fortune in recovering three points and an injury to Tom Cleverley. There’s a long way to go still in what looks to be a tight play-off race and for Watford, the emphasis is now on the forthcoming, relatively gentle set of fixtures. Pick up some speed and they head into the big games after Easter with momentum. Fail to deliver and the Hornets will be needing to make up points from a run that will look a lot more daunting.
As for Nottingham, there’s no escaping the biggest issue Forest must try to address on the pitch. It is one which has dogged them for some time now. The Reds have struggled to find the back of the net on a regular basis, and missed chances again proved costly again on Tuesday night. Forest had more than enough opportunities to score against Luton but failed to put any of them away. And they paid the price as the Hatters struck in the second half to snatch all three points. Chris Hughton must solve the problem, especially when their next five games look particularly tough.
The Reds face the first such tough test at Vicarage Road as they look to bounce back from their midweek’s disappointing showing against at the City Ground. The result leaves the Reds in 16th place in the table, well clear of the bottom three clubs, although third from bottom Rotherham do have three games in hand over Forest due to various suspensions. The table is looking a lot better for Forest than when Hughton first took over, with the Reds climbing out and away from the relegation zone. However, could the result against Luton leave them looking over their shoulders?

Watford meet Nottingham having previously lost only one of their last nine meetings with the Forest in all competitions (W4 D4), a 2-4 defeat in January 2014. This will be Nottingham’s first league visit to Vicarage Road since October 2014, when they drew 2-2.
There have been just three goals in Nottingham manager Chris Hughton’s last five league meetings with Watford (four games with Brighton, one with Forest), while his side have now won four away league games in 2021 – one more than they managed in 21 away games in 2020.
The visitors will definitely be more satisfied with a point but we expect a low-scoring Watford’s win so BettingKick’s Watford vs Nottingham prediction is: Watford win to nil
