Watford host Swansea at the Vicarage Road (Watford) in the 46th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 12.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, May 8. Read our reasons for Watford vs Swansea prediction and betting tips.
Watford still hope to finish their extremely successful 2020/21 promotion campaign on a high despite losing to play-off contenders Brentford this afternoon. The Hornets were on the wrong end of a 2-0 defeat on their first visit to the Brentford Community Stadium, a week on from securing automatic promotion back to the Premier League. Meanwhile, Morgan Whittaker and Connor Roberts were both on target for the Swans as they signed off their regular Liberty Stadium season with a 2-1 win over Derby County to move up to fourth in the table and pass the eighty point barrier at the same time. A win for the Swans also means that a two-legged semi-final against Bournemouth looks set.
The Hornets were beaten 2-0 at the Brentford Community Stadium, confirming that they will finish second in the Championship after this weekend's final match of the campaign, and struggled to match the intensity they have shown in recent weeks. Not helping the cause was a raft of injuries to influential players, with Ismaila Sarr, Joao Pedro, Carlos Sanchez and Kiko Femenia ruled out ahead of kick-off before both Joseph Hungbo and Tom Cleverley were forced off the pitch during the first half.
However, head coach Xisco Munoz insisted he was not disappointed with the team's performance in the defeat. The Hornets tried to get the three points but unluckily for them left the stadium with no points. Xisco Munoz will definitely make sure that his side is fully focused on the closure of this campaign when they face Swansea, another promotion hopefuls, who will definitely be up for it, looking to build up momentum for the play-offs. Though, Watford will want their last three points of the season, too.
As for Swansea, although Steve Cooper made five changes last time out, but kept a strong team for the visit of a Derby side who were looking to secure the points that they needed to avoid relegation. With the Swans play -offs spot already secured, Cooper would have been hoping for a Swans performance not just to help their final league position but more importantly to try and get a run of form before the play-offs start in a little over two weeks time.
A first home win since beating Middlesbrough in SA1 on March 6 was secured in the space of three second-half minutes to cancel out Derby’s opener. Cooper’s side showed the character to recover, while youngsters Ollie Cooper, Liam Cullen and Brandon Cooper also got more game time under their belt. The Swans know now that barring a big defeat or big Barnsley win next weekend, they will finish 4th or 5th in the table and, as we know all too well, winning can become a habit very quickly.

Watford host Swansea for the first time in a league match since December 2017 and a 2-1 defeat. Swansea are also looking for their first league double over Watford since the 1978/79 season after celebrating a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture at the turn of the year.
Watford have lost their final league match of the season in each of the last four seasons, all in the Premier League, scoring three and conceding 13. We think the hosts can get a win here, but cannot leave the Swans out of the equation completely – they still do have something to play for.
