Josh Sargent will look to continue his career-best run of form when Werder Bremen hosts Wolfsburg on Saturday. Read our reasons for Werder vs Wolfsburg prediction and betting tips.
American striker Josh Sargent already scored more this season than in each of his previous two campaigns of Bundesliga football. Sargent leads the way among Werder players for most sprints (619) and most challenges won (261). The American's struck five times in 24 appearances, including three in his last four outings, and ranks as Werder's joint-leading scorer alongside Niclas Füllkrug. It was Füllkrug who got on the scoresheet in last weekend's 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich, the injury-hit German coming off the bench to end a goal drought stretching back to mid-October.
He's an option to partner Sargent in the Bremen attack, though head coach Florian Kohfeldt may opt to stick with Romano Schmid and Milot Rashica in the supporting roles. One from Christian Groß and Niklas Moisander will likely make a way in defense to accommodate the suspension-free Marco Friedl. Die Grün-Weißen begins Matchday 26 in the relative comforts of mid-table, nine points clear of the relegation zone.
Bremen: Pavlenka - Veljkovic, Toprak, Friedl - Gebre Selassie (c), Eggestein, Möhwald, Augustinsson - Schmid, Rashica - Sargent
Out: Erras (hip), Plogmann (knee), Zetterer (elbow)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Florian Kohfeldt
There's certainly no shame in losing to Bayern, as Wolfsburg knows all too well. The Wolves unbeaten start to 2020/21 was ended by the defending champions on Matchday 12 - but not their UEFA Champions League aspirations. Oliver Glasner's side has claimed 27 of a possible 39 points since that mid-December loss in Munich to cement their place among the top four. Indeed, their 5-0 win over rock-bottom Schalke, coupled with Eintracht Frankfurt's 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig, has given them a four-point cushion in third place with nine rounds of fixtures remaining.
Maxence Lacroix returns from suspension to bolster the current campaign's joint-meanest defense, but left-back Paulo Otavio serves the second of a four-game ban. Xaver Schlager is also available again, while Wout Weghorst - who was on target against Schalke with his 16th league effort of the season - goes in search of his 50th Bundesliga goal. Weghorst's four goals in five meetings with Bremen have all come in his last three, including a brace earlier this season.
Wolfsburg: Casteels - Mbabu, Lacroix, Brooks, Roussillon - Schlager, Arnold (c) - Baku, Gerhardt, Brekalo - Weghorst
Out: Otavio (suspended), Pongracic (calf), Steffen (ankle)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Oliver Glasner

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
