West Brom host Brighton at the Hawthorns (West Bromwich) in the 26th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, February 27. Read our reasons for West Brom vs Brighton prediction and betting tips.
West Brom face a huge uphill battle in their bid to avoid relegation and after their shock point against Man United, they welcome the Seagulls on the back of another draw, this time against Burnley at Turf Moor (0-0). Sam Allardyce's side remain second from the bottom, thirteen points adrift of safety heading into Saturday and the time is running out fast for the Baggies. As for Brighton, after being unbeaten in their last six top-flight matches - winning three and drawing three, with five clean sheets, to boot, they dropped points against Crystal Palace at home. Their survival bid has suffered a little dent, as they sit 4 points clear of the drop zone in 16th.
Albion hired Allardyce to succeed Slaven Bilic as a manager in December but results since have hardly improved and the club still seems nailed on to be relegated from the Premier League. Allardyce’s contract at The Hawthorns runs until the end of next season and there’s a lot of debate about whether or not he’ll want to stay should the Baggies get relegated as they are without a win in 14 from 15 in all competitions (D5, L9).
The stalemate in Lancashire was West Brom’s first clean sheet under Big Sam at the 13th attempt and was just their third all season, with the previous one coming in a 1-0 win over Sheffield Utd on November 28. The Baggies still haven’t convinced in their ability to continue climbing up the standings after they were held by Burnley for a goalless draw. The leakiest back four in the Premier League have shipped 55 goals and scored only 19 – only their Saturday’s hosts (17) and bottom Sheffield Utd (15) scored less.
Meanwhile, a winless December may have had Brighton boss Potter looking over his shoulder, but four wins in their past eight games in all competitions (D2, L2) - including five clean sheets - suggests the Seagulls are well on their way to find the form they need to pull away from the bottom. Brighton boss Graham Potter said the Seagulls have been producing some of their best performances in two years as they beat Tottenham and Liverpool at Anfield, among others, recently.
However, against Crystal Palace at the weekend, Brighton fell to a 2-1 loss at home In a common tale for Graham Potter’s Brighton, where they had the best of the chances and possession, only to finish on the losing end. Having come into this fixture on the back of a six-game unbeaten run Brighton fans could have been forgiven for looking at the second half of the season with optimism. However, they will now be concerned at the prospect of their side being dragged into a fight for top-flight survival.

West Brom meet Brighton having not lost in 10 previous home league meetings with Brighton (W6 D4). It’s the most they’ve faced an opponent at home in the Football League without ever suffering defeat.
West Brom are winless in their last seven Premier League games (D3, L4), and also their last seven home games (D2, L5). The Baggies have conceded a league-high 55 Premier League goals so far this season and are averaging just 7.8 shots per game - the lowest rate on record in a single campaign in the competition since the 1997/98 campaign.
On the other hand, Brighton have lost just one of their last six away league games (W2 D3), with that defeat coming at league leaders Man City. Interestingly, all four of Brighton’s games against teams starting the day in the relegation zone this season have ended in a draw, with three of those finishing goalless.
Having said that, we predict a low-scoring affair here, so BettingKick’s West Brom vs Brighton prediction is: Under 2.5 goals
