West Brom host Burnley in the 5th round of the Premier League at The Hawthorns (West Bromwich) on Monday, October 19 and the game kicks off at 5.30pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
WBA suffered a home defeat to Leicester (0-3) on their Premier League return, then followed it with a 5-2 defeat to Everton. They picked up their first point in the Premier League in a home draw against Chelsea (3-3), which saw them become the first team since themselves in 2010/2011 not to win despite leading 3-0 at half-time. They followed it with another defeat to Southampton (2-0) and are now 17th in the table with a single point, welcoming the Clarets next in pursuit of their first Premier League victory.
As for their Monday's opponents Burnley, they are in the 18th place without a single point so far, albeit having a game in hand. They lost all of their matches so far, against Leicester away (4-2), Southampton at home (0-1) and most recently away at Newcvastle (3-1). Burnley desperately need points to get them going amidst as the club is going through the motions on all levels.
MATCH ANALYSIS
The Baggies improved their performance significantly against Chelsea, only to be back to square one with a defeat to Newcastle. They have shipped 14 goals in first 4 games and they will have to improve significantly defensively if they are to avoid facing immediate return to the Championship. On a more positive note West Brom winger Kamil Grosicki scored a 19-minute hat-trick for Poland in a 5-1 friendly win over Finland, while on the other hand, Slaven Bilic faces more bad news as Wales striker Hal Robson-Kanu needs a surgery after breaking his arm in the Baggies' defeat at Southampton and will be out for some time. West Bromwich boss Albion said in the aftermath of the Southampton match that his players "have to learn" how to survive the premier league and have to be competitive and do their best. The Baggies have to do more and show more determination, with much better mentality than they have shown so far.
The Clarets, who were well below par against Newcastle are now 18th in the table, after losing their opening three games in the top flight for the first time since 1927-28. Sean Dyche has rightly been praised for his leadership with a modestly assembled Clarets squad - having provided a second top-10 finish in five Premier League seasons in 2019/2020, but an already thin squad is at its limits. Dyche implied that he needs more players, but with the transfer window closed now, he will have to work with what he has at his disposal. Furthermore, they have been very unfortunate with injuries and with four players side-lined, they still have four important players missing. They welcomed the international break as they had a few days off and returned for the hard work ahead of West Brom match. When everyone is fit they have got a good group, but until the squad is fully fit hey will find it very difficult to pick up any points. However, Dyche has done wonders with the Clarets' modest squad before, so let's not write them off already.

As for the stats and facts, these two teams have faced each other 12 since 2006, with the Baggies winning 5 and the Clarets winning 4, while 3 matches ended in a draw.
They last met in the Premier League in season 2017/2018 when West Brom won away from home (0-1) only to lose in a reverse home fixture (1-2).
Both teams scored 8 times in those 12 head-to-heads.
Overall, their matches averaged 3.50 goals with West Brom scoring 2.08 goals per match and Burnley averaging 1.42.
With West Brom showing more attacking intent than Burnley after scoring 10 in all competitions so far, and with Burnleys problems on and off the pitch, I give a slight advantage to the home team to record their first PL win this season.
My prediction: West Brom win

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
