WEST BROM VS LEEDS MATCH ANALYSIS
It’s been a tough start in the Premier League for WBA, who failed to win 14 of their 15 league games (W1, D5, L9). Following the club’s decision to appoint survival expert Sam Allardyce, the ‘Baggies’ became the first team to take a point off the reigning champions at Anfield this season and welcome the Whites in the 19th place, five points from Burnley and safety. As for their Tuesday’s opponents, after a 6-2 hammering at Old Trafford, Leeds United returned to winning ways at home against Burnley on Sunday. It was far from a convincing performance by Marcelo Bielsa's boys at the Elland Road, but they will take the three points which put them in 12th place regardless.
West Brom's fortunes showed no immediate turnaround with the managerial change, as they lost their opening game under new boss Sam Allardyce. But the Baggies seem to be adapting to Big Sam's philosophy when they held league leaders Liverpool to a 1-1 draw away from home on Sunday. Midfielder Jake Livermore is serving the second game of a three-match suspension, while injured Baggies trio Hal Robson-Kanu, Kyle Bartley and Conor Townsend all look set to miss out.
In their Boxing Day draw with Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp's side looked to be going five points clear at the top of the table when Sadio Mane fired past Sam Johnstone, but Semi Ajayi scored a dramatic late equaliser to earn struggling West Brom their first point since Sam Allardyce took charge. They would not mind being thoroughly outplayed at Anfield as long as they got the points in the bag, which set them up nicely for the clash with another newcomers, Leeds.
As for Bielsa’s side, the Whites made it two wins from three with a 1-0 win over Burnley over the weekend, but have a disappointing record at West Brom in recent years having failed to win their last four visits to Hawthorns (L3). Leeds have also lost three of their last four away league matches, but the win against the Clarets will serva as a morale boost for Marcelo Bielsa's side ahead of their trip to West Brom.
In stark contrast to their adventurous and intense playing style, Leeds struggled throughout the second half to get on the ball as the opposition took control. But their back three stood firm not allowing Burnley to equalize and made sure Patrick Bamford's early goal from a penalty-spot, and his 10th goal of the season, was enough to secure the win on the night. Unfortunately for the upcoming game, they continue to have central defensive issues after Diego Llorente suffered a setback in training and is expected to miss the trip to West Bromwich.

West Brom surprised everyone by getting a point at Anfield, but they deserved it.This is another test for the Baggies defence, because it’s expected that Leeds will come at them in waves. They were well organised and showed the spirit in the draw with Liverpool, but do they have the quality they need to win games in succession? We are still not convinced.
Leeds United seemed to deflect from Marcelo Bielsa's enthralling playing style as they had a lot of defensive work to do against Burnley. However, that could be pinned down to fatigue among their players from having played too many games. We should see the Leeds we have come to know against Burnley, where attacking prowess could give them the edge.
