West Brom host Wolves at the Hawthorns (West Bromwich) in the 34th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 6 pm (UK) on Monday, May 2. Read our reasons for West Brom vs Wolves prediction and betting tips.
West Brom conceded a 91st-minute equaliser against Aston Villa last weekend and had to settle with one point instead of three. The Baggies go into the weekend nine points adrift of safety and it could be more by the time they face Wolves. Nevertheless, Sam Allardyce’s West Brom are not going down without a fight. Meanwhile, Wolves supporters must be desperate for the end of the season. It's been a miserable campaign, compounded by last week's tragic 4-0 defeat at home to Burnley. 14 points clear of the bottom three, there is no danger of being relegated but similarly, they have nothing left to play for.
Last weekend was a sickening one for West Brom, as they could manage just a draw against Aston Villa after watching Burnley pick up three points against Wolves. The dropped points for the Baggies mean that there is a nine-point difference between themselves and safety, with just five games left to play this season. West Brom’s relegation could be confirmed in just a couple of weeks, as their upcoming run of fixtures looks testing on paper.
Albion were 2-1 ahead going into added time against Villa last time out, but a late Keinan Davis goal rescued a point at the death. The equaliser was a mess created by the Baggies as there was a mix-up between Sam Johnstone and Kyle Bartley. After this game against The Wolves, they face Arsenal, Liverpool, West Ham, and Leeds to close the season. The draw against Villa last weekend could have been the final blow from their perspective.
As for Wolves, The Wanderers will be hoping to deliver the final nail in the coffin of their local rivals on Monday evening, but they will need to bounce back into form themselves. Wolves have won just two of their last six fixtures, while also losing three of their previous five in the league. The worst of those defeats came last time out, as they were hammered 4-0 at home by Burnley. It would certainly go down as one of the worst performances under Nuno Espirito Santo, as they managed just two shots on target against the struggling Clarets.
Wolves have a poor record against West Brom in the Premier League, as they have won three of the five fixtures between the sides. The only defeat that the Baggies have suffered came in May 2011. Meanwhile, Wolves haven’t won at the Hawthorns since September 1996. After a performance littered with errors and lethargy Wolves may be more focused for this derby clash, but whether they can match the hunger and desire of their local rivals is debatable.

West Brom meet Wolves having previously won their last three league games against The Wanderers, last winning more consecutively against their Midlands rivals all the way back between 1929-1932. Wolves are winless in their last nine away league games against West Brom (D4, L5) since September 1996 and have netted just three goals in those nine games, failing to score on six occasions.
The two sides have only faced off three times in the last decade but West Brom have actually won on every occasion. With Wolves' season drifting to the finish line, this is a good opportunity for Sam Allardyce's side to pick up three points.
