WEST HAM VS BRIGHTON MATCH ANALYSIS
High-flying West Ham were right behind Chelsea before their 3-0 defeat at the Stamford Bridge last weekend, but have now slipped to 10th place with 21 points as they await Brighton at home next. The visitors come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw against Sheffield Utd at their AMEX Stadium last Sunday. The share of points with fellow strugglers means that they remain out of the relegation zone in 17th place with 12 points, two points from Fulham in the red.
The Hammers have had some fantastic results so far. They took a point off Man City at home (1-1 ) and had easily dispatched the likes of Wolves (4-0) and Leicester (0-3). They also drew earlier against the Spurs after an astonishing comeback (3-3). West Londoners have shown they knew how to raise the game against top clubs, but they struggled in a capital city derby against the Blues as they failed to land a single shot on target for the first time in a Premier League game this season.
Against Chelsea, Thiago Silva put the hosts in front when he headed home in the 10th minute. Tammy Abraham, back in the side in place of Olivier Giroud, then scored his sixth (78’) and seventh goal (80’) of the season in the span of two minutes to give Chelsea a somewhat flattering victory as West Ham could not create anything despite being a better side in longer patches. After having an off day against the Blues, they will look to get closer to the top-six again with a win against the Seagulls.
As for the visitors, they were always going to struggle this season. Apart from Maupay, their new young full-back Lamptey, and centre-back Ben White, who have been stand-out performers so far, there are not too many positives for Graham Potter. With a goalless draw at Fulham, the Seagulls made amends for back-to-back defeats to Southampton (1-2) and Leicester (3-0), but failed to take advantage against bottom-fodders Sheffield Utd last weekend.
On Sunday, Sheffield’s midfielder Lundstram saw a straight red (40’) after the referee had consulted his pitchside monitor, but Jayden Bogle gave the Blades a lead against the run of play (63’). Brighton had Wilder's side pinned back inside their own half for the majority of the contest but needed Danny Welbeck's late strike to deny the 10-man Blades a first league win of the season. With a draw here the Seagulls remain without a league win at Amex Stadium this season and sit just two points above the relegation zone.

West Ham have now won just one of their last four league outings with the Hammers dropping to 10th as a result. The east London side has failed to win their last six meetings with Brighton but won't have a better chance of ending that record than Sunday.
Having failed to beat fellow strugglers Fulham at Craven Cottage in midweek, Sheffield Utd game was an opportunity for Graham Potter's side to give themselves breathing space above the bottom three before a difficult run of fixtures over the festive period.
The Hammers still have one of the better home records in the top flight and are likely to extend Brighton's disappointing league form.
Thus, BettingKick’s prediction for West Ham vs Brighton match is: West Ham win
