WEST HAM VS DONCASTER MATCH ANALYSIS
The Hammers have picked up a club-record tally of points at the halfway stage of a Premier League campaign this season as David Moyes is working wonders for the capital city club. They are comfortable favourites heading into this FA Cup tie against League One side Doncaster, after winning their opening four matches of a calendar year, including a tight 1-0 win over Stockport in the FA Cup prior to this match. As for Doncaster, have won nine of their last 11 matches in all competitions and knocked out Championship side Blackburn (1-0) from the last round of the FA Cup. Darren Moore's side are making a real charge towards the automatic promotion places in League One at present and are in good form, too, coming into this match.
David Moyes can take a break from the challenges of life in the Premier League when his side welcome Doncaster. The pressures of ensuring the Hammers maintain their current form and preserve their place in the top flight has been immense for the manager and this cup tie offers a different type of challenge, but just as testing. Moyes has to decide if some players need a rest – a chance to recharge the batteries.
West Ham moved into the 1/16-finals of the FA Cup as they battled past National League side Stockport. With the match played in heavy rain, chances were at a premium before Craig Dawson headed in from Jarrod Bowen's cross late on for the winning goal. Still, without a replacement for Sebastien Haller through the door, West Ham would be wise to wrap Michail Antonio up in cotton wool this weekend if the manager opts to start his best striker.
Meanwhile, the magic of the cup has rewarded Doncaster with a top-flight opposition after starting their FA Cup journey at seventh-tier FC United of Manchester (5-1), and working their way through two more away games – against a League Two side Carlisle Utd (1-2) and Championship outfit Blackburn (0-1) next. The League One team have a relatively clean bill of health heading into the weekend.
Doncaster manager Darren Moore may look to reward the side that knocked Blackburn with another go here. The League One title challengers have now won 9 of their previous 11 competitive matches and ground out a 1-1 draw the last time these two sides met back in 2012. The incentive to go one better this time is an away tie at either Liverpool or Manchester United in the next round. Doncaster have scored and led at half-time in the previous rounds and they might as well give the best they can here.

West Ham are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Doncaster (W2, D3), with all of these taking place in the second tier between 1957 and 2012. West Ham have alternated between winning (4) and losing (3) their last seven FA Cup ties against sides from a lower division, while Doncaster have won just one of their last 16 FA Cup games against top-flight opponents (D4, L11). They are on their longest ever winning run on the road in the competition.
