West Ham host Leeds at the Olympic Stadium (London) in the 27th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Monday, March 8. Read our reasons for West Ham vs Leeds prediction and betting tips.
West Ham’s last match saw them lose gallantly against champions-elect Man City to stay on 45 points. David Moyes’ men still remain firmly in contention for Europe and are five points better off than they were at the same juncture in the 2015/16 Premier League (PL) campaign - the last to yield European qualification. On the other hand, Leeds, drawless in the top-flight since November (W8, L9), enter this match as underdogs, though dangerous on their day. Despite a 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa at home last time out, Marcelo Bielsa's United are still secure in 10th position with 35 points from their 26 games.
The Hammers are in the sixth position and within striking distance of a top-four finish following their impressive performances in the current campaign. West Ham have won three of their last five top-flight games to move to within two points of fourth-placed Chelsea. West Ham have been far more consistent this season, which is why they are in contention for European football. They may have been beaten at Man City but did enough to show there is substance behind their drive towards the top end of the PL this season.
Moyes guided West Ham to a 13th-place finish in the 2017-18 season, despite the club being in the relegation zone when he joined in November. But, the Scottish manager, who returned to West Ham in 2019, says that things feel different this time around – the Hammers have won 13 league games this season - three more than they managed in the 2019-20 campaign. A win here will set them up nicely when they make the trip to Man United in their next Premier League game.
As for Leeds, Bielsa's team have caught the eye in the Premier League for their slick interplay and persistent goal threat. Both qualities were evident against Southampton last Tuesday in a commanding 3-0 victory. However, against Villa last time out, their dominance of possession did not bring many chances against visitors' stubborn backline. Leeds completed more than twice as many passes as Villa but rarely threatened.
Leeds have now lost six home league games this season, the second-highest number of home defeats suffered by Marcelo Bielsa in a single league campaign in his managerial career (8 with Athletic Bilbao in 2012-13), and have also shipped a league-high 19 goals from set-piece situations (including penalties). Nevertheless, Bielsa has done enough to trust him and his decisions, while the effort, intensity, and positive attitude displayed game after game should be enough to appease the fans.

West Ham meet Leeds looking to complete their first league double over Leeds since 1953-54 in the second tier, after celebrating 2-1 at Elland Road in the reverse fixture earlier in December. This will be the 100th different league meeting between West Ham and Leeds and the Whites have lost just one of their 10 top-flight away games against the Hammers (W6 D3), since March 1998. This is their first such visit since a 4-3 victory in November 2002.
West Ham have are in the race for the top four and we see them as favorites here, even though Leeds tend to do better on their travels. However, rather than looking for a winner, we predict a high-scoring affair here, so the BettingKick’s West Ham vs Leeds prediction is: Over 2.5 goals

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
