WEST HAM VS LIVERPOOL MATCH ANALYSIS
After three successive 1-0 wins in all competitions, Hammers’ next three victories saw 2 plus goals each. They earned their last win in midweek at Selhurst Park, beating their London rivals Crystal Palace 3-2 to go unbeaten in seven in all competitions (W5, D2). The Hammers in 5th are six points behind leaders Man City and are looking to remain in the race for one of the European spots. As for Liverpool, the defending champions have ended their barren run (D3, L2) and recorded just their first win in 2021 after they won 3-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night. They are in 4th, two points above the hosts in the table ahead of their weekend clash.
David Moyes has fashioned a very decent West Ham side that is disciplined while often creative and attack-minded. They have been rewarded for their enterprising play with some impressive results, notably big wins against Wolves and Leicester and draws at Manchester City and Tottenham. The Hammers are very much part of the teams that are within a touching distance of a Champions League berth and Moyes will be also be delighted with their defensive displays as of late.
West Ham David Moyes feels his side have "not scratched the surface yet" of their potential after they beat Crystal Palace to continue their flawless start to 2021 and move into the top four of the Premier League, albeit for only 24 hours. The Hammers have now won six in a row in all competitions, with the latest victory coming from an impressive away display, epitomised by Tomas Soucek, who was on target twice. West Ham are now on 35 points from 20 games, but the ween here will not come easy as visitors have tasted victory again and will be hungry for more.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have been in a poor run of form since the start of the year and have not scored a single goal in the Premier League in four matches, prior to the match with Spurs. It must be noted that the defending Champions have rarely looked so vulnerable in recent years. The Reds remain in the top-four, but could be replaced there by David Moyes’men after the weekend. However, on Thursday, Liverpool returned to form in impressive fashion as the Premier League champions secured a convincing victory at Tottenham.
The Reds moved back into the top four as they discovered their cutting edge in style at the expense of an uninspiring Spurs. This was an outstanding result and performance by Liverpool in the face of yet more central defensive injury problems – Fabinho was ruled out before the game and Joel Matip lasted only 45 minutes on his return to the side. They have had 11 different centre-back pairings in 20 top-flight games, something that West Ham can exploit on Sunday.

Liverpool is one of the sides David Moyes has the worst record against, dating back to his Everton days. West Ham are winless in nine league matches against Liverpool (D2, L7) and are without a win in all four of their games at London Stadium (W3 D1).
West Ham were 17th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone, when Moyes returned for a second spell in December 2019. Now he may have his sights on matching the club's best-ever Premier League finish of fifth in 1999.
While Moyes might rejoice in Liverpool defensive woes, he should be wary of the fact that it was at the other end where Liverpool were right back to their brilliant best, with Mane a constant threat and Firmino and Salah full of menace and creation.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
