West Ham host Tottenham at the Olympic Stadium (London) in the 25th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 12 pm (UK) on Sunday, February 21. Read our reasons for West Ham vs Tottenham prediction and betting tips
West Ham are having a brilliant campaign in the top-flight and are actually in the running for the Champions League places. David Moyes’s side are fifth in the standings at the moment with 42 points from 24 matches, level on points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, and come into this game on the back of a comfortable 3-0 win against bottom-of-the-league Sheffield Utd. As for Tottenham, the Spurs lost at Man City 3-0, too without putting in much fight. The ninth-placed Tottenham have only won one of their last five matches in the league and need to start winning football matches again as they desperately chase down the Champions League places when they head to their London rivals to take on David Moyes’ men.
The Hammers were beaten 3-1 at home by Liverpool on January 31 to seemingly burst their bubble after a great festive run, but the Reds’ recent struggles mean David Moyes‘ side now sit two points above the defending champions and could finish in top-four after this weekend if the results go their way. Much will depend on the fitness of Michail Antonio during the run-in, but Jesse Lingard has arrived to bolster Moyes’ options, and with Michail Antonio due back from injury, West Ham look in decent shape with the business end of the season looming.
The Hammers’ tally of 42 points from 24 games is their highest at this stage of a top-flight season since 1985-86 when they went on to finish in third place and their phenomenal form after last season's struggle shows no sign of going off the boil. Victory over the Blades moved Moyes' team on the brink of CL spots with another 42 points to play for remaining, and they have to be considered serious contenders for Europe next season.
On the other hand, Tottenham are going through the motions at the moment after suffering three consecutive league defeats prior to their 2-0 win against West Brom last Saturday. They were also busy in the FA Cup where a painful 5-4 defeat in extra-time sealed their fate at the Goodison Park and left them with little fire in their belly for the match at the Etihad last weekend. Their most recent slump in the top-flight has put a serious dent on the club’s top-four ambitions, but their season has by no means been a disaster so far.
Meanwhile, the Bale problem goes on and it is not a welcome distraction at the moment for Mourinho. Restored to the Spurs squad after a rather odd week, in which Mourinho said the Welshman had asked to be left out of the FA Cup defeat by, Bale was not introduced by the time Spurs were three down and Mourinho had already used two substitutes. Without a swift change of fortune, a season that promised so much for both parties is in danger of turning into a damp squib, with the plea from those close to Bale that he just needs a run of games to find his form unlikely to be heeded.

West Ham meet Tottenham having lost each of their last three home league games against Spurs, their longest losing run at home against them in their league history. Tottenham have a better record in their last 20 meetings with 10 wins to Hammers’ 7. In the reverse fixture in October, Tottenham were 3-0 up with 10 minutes remaining but ended up drawing 3-3. However, Spurs have not failed to win both league games in a season against the Hammers since 2013-14 (L2).

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
