West Ham host Wolves in the third week of the Premier League at the Olympic Stadium (London) on Sunday, September 27 and the match kicks off at 7pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
West Ham did stay up in top flight last season, but the team with so much potential and individual quality should have performed better than struggling that late in the campaign. The way the Hammers opened this season, with a 0-2 home defeat to Newcastle and a 2-1 defeat at the Emirates against Arsenal is hugely disappointing continuation of last season's poor form. Problems off the pitch are also piling up and with all the distractions it will be tough to regroup and refocus in time when they face Wolves.
Wolves made a brilliant start to their season on with an opening 0-2 win at Sheffield United. In their opener Wolves thoroughly deserved their victory as they simply showed more quality than the Blades, one of the most pleasant, last season's surprises. That game was followed by a second week match against Man City at the Moulinex, where the visitors were too strong and got their revenge for the last campaign's double defeat. Nevertheless, Nuno's side should have enough in the tank to bring their A-game to London and pick some points in London.
MATCH ANALYSIS
The Hammers are going through the rough patch on and of the pitch. Co-owner David Sullivan has come out and said that the lack of signings is getting more depressing and also hinted at the unrest across the board. West Ham's misery was also compounded by David Moyes, Issa Diop and Josh Cullen testing positive for coronavirus, meaning they won't be available for the next ten days at least. On the football side of things, after their two consecutive league defeats, they recorded the emphatic 5-1 win in midweek against Hull in the third round of the Carabao Cup. Haller scored twice, and it will be a huge boost for them if the expensive striker, signed last summer, could find the form he was brought in for in the first place. They showed improvement against Arsenal as well, despite the loss, but can they go on fighting two battles at once and for how long?
As for the Wolves, they visit London on the trot of four consecutive wins against their hosts, where they haven't even shipped a single goal. Also, unlike the Hammers they had a full week's rest after being eliminated in the second round of the Carabao Cup. Loss against City wasn't unexpected even though they have a knack of beating them, and Nuno Espirito Santo will know which areas need improving. Meanwhile, they sold Diogo Jota to Liverpool and signed right-back Nelson Semedo from Barcelona, which will allow Adama Traore to push more forward. The manager announced more signings to come before the window closes, but with the recent record they have against the Hammers, Nuno should be positive with the squad he currently has at his hands.

Last but not least, let's see the facts and stats. Looking back over the last decade, the two sides have played only 6 times. The Hammers have won twice, Wolves have been victorious 3 times , while 1 match ended in a draw.
West Ham have kept only 3 clean sheets in their last 20 home games and the visitors have missed the net in 5 of their last 20 away league games.
West Ham's home games have seen 60% of their home matches ending with both teams scoring (W3 -D5-L4), and Wolves' percentage of their away games finishing with both teams scoring is little lower at 45% (W4-D2-L5)
Finally, when these sides have faced each other, there has been an average of 1.83 goals per game. Out of these, West Ham have scored an average of 0.67 goals, while Wolves have averaged 1.18.
With West Ham struggling with the form of their players and lack of balance throughout the team and lack of new signings, while Wolves have made steady progress over the last couple of seasons, my prediction for this game is Wolves win.

As a young boy, he found his love for football, which became an obsession, but when he tried playing it he soon realized that he just wasn't talented enough. Bearing that in mind, Wyatt decided to learn everything there is to know about all the teams and players, with special focus on Premier League and Championship . Wyatt has a big affection for Championship and he is well versed in all the teams and knows their advantages and weak spots very well.
