Wolfsburg takes on promoted Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday in a search of the first win in the new season.
Wolfsburg has both the best defense and the worst attack in the Bundesliga, with just two goals conceded but the same number scored. The Wolves are now winless in seven home matches in the Bundesliga. Eight is the club record they risk matching. Four games and four draws is not a bad start but also not particularly well for a team that wants to play in Europe regularly. Wolfsburg has opened a Bundesliga season with four successive draws for the first time. Hoffenheim was the last of four Bundesliga teams to do so - in 2016/17. They, as well as Cologne (1991/92) and Hertha Berlin (2004/05), went on to finish fourth.
A poacher's finish from Weghorst earned the Wolves a point away to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Matchday 4, leaving them above their visitors on goal-difference alone. In the defense, Oliver Glasner’s men are the only team this term yet to concede a goal from open play, having shipped two apiece from corners and free-kicks.
Pacey, skillful winger Josip Brekalo is in isolation due to coronavirus. Recent arrival Maximilian Philipp could take his place in attacking midfield unless Oliver Glasner reverts to a three-man midfield. Riddle Baku should continue at right-back despite Kevin Mbabu returning to training.
Wolfsburg: Casteels (c) - Baku, Lacroix, Brooks, Roussillon - Schlager, Guilavogui (c), Arnold - Steffen, Mehmedi - Weghorst
Out: Brekalo (not included), Bruma (thigh), Otavio (hamstring)
Doubtful: Mbabu (knee), Pongracic (glandular fever), William (knee)
Coach: Oliver Glasner
Visitors Bielefeld come into this fixture healing off a 4-1 loss at Bayern Munich last week, but although it was the team's second consecutive defeat, Uwe Neuhaus' men can take many positives from their performance at the Allianz Arena, particularly in the second half. Neuhaus has overseen back-to-back competitive defeats for the first time since taking charge of Bielefeld in December 2018.
Ritsu Doan was excellent in attacking midfield, scoring one and creating a handful of other chances, so he should retain his place here. Striker Fabian Klos is yet to score this term, but his battling display last time out should warrant a starting berth again. Klos made 65 Regionalliga appearances for the Wolfsburg reserves between 2009 and 2011, scoring 22 goals.
Arne Maier could get the nod in central midfield following his loan arrival from Hertha Berlin. Marcel Hartel has run a league-high 32.2 miles after four rounds of fixtures.
Bielefeld: Ortega - Brunner, Pieper, Van der Hoorn, Lucoqui - Prietl, Maier - Doan, Hartl, Cordova - Klos (c)
Out: Voglsammer (foot)
Doubtful: Soukou (muscular)
Coach: Uwe Neuhaus

Wolfsburg has an unusual defensive approach for the Bundesliga teams and they are a very tough opponent for their rivals. They must revert to more risky football if they want to establish themselves in the top tier of the table. Bielefeld is also a hard-working side with a brilliant work ethic so under 2,5 goals looks like a decent bet for this match.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
