Wolves host Manchester City at Moulinex on Monday, September 21 in their first home match of the 20/21 campaign and the match kicks off at 8.15pm (UK).
Wolves made a brilliant start to their season on Monday evening with a 2-0 win at Sheffield United. They thoroughly deserved their victory as they simply showed finer moments of quality in the opening game of the new season. As for the Monday's home fixture, Moulinex Stadium has been turned into a real fortress last couple of seasons, but visitors will be hungry for revenge when they arrive on Monday.
Manchester City's opener against Aston Villa was postponed and their pre-season prolonged because of their Champions League Quarter-final on August 15. Now they start their season away to Wolves, which will be a test of their resolve to start the year with a emphatic win after they lost both last season's fixtures to their Monday's opponents. Their ambition is to regain the Premier League trophy and anything else but three points will be a blow for Guardiola's side
Wolves came out of the blocks against Sheffield Utd and their first six minutes were phenomenal. they scored two in that time and cruised most of the game later. Are they that good to trouble the top-four or the top-six again? They have got the players to do it and they show last season they can compete against anyone at that level, so this campaign shouldn't be too much different.Wolves kept the majority of the squad. They kept Jimenez and he is off to a flyer again. They also made a club record signing of an 18-year-old teenager Fabio Silva from Porto.
However, they shouldn't get too carried away. They lost their second-round Carabao Cup tie at home against Stoke in midweek. £35m teenage prodigy Silva debuted and Raul Jimenez was brought on later as Nuno Santo tried to avoid penalties. Stoke were solid defensively and didn't leave too much space for Wolves' counters.Their counter-attacks are what they are best in, but they are also dangerous from set-pieces and are very solid at the back. It will be a more open contest against City and having beaten City twice in the league last season, it seems like they have a recipe for them.
As for their part, the Citizens are determined to fight for the title again. They added Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres this summer, but they lost hugely instrumental David Silva as well. Since they were beaten twice in their last season's meetings, Wolves may not be the most ideal opponents to start with. Adama Traore, especially, gave city all sorts of problems in those matches.
Manchester City are favourite to lift the premier League trophy to many, but if we look back few weeks ago, they bundled out of the Champions League and had numerous distractions in their short pre-season. They were linked with Messi and the saga lasted for a couple of weeks. They were also linked with another big signing Kalidou Koulibaly, but nothing came out of it. They signed Nathana Ake instead. Defense is still where they are most vulnerable, and as they didn't have any practice games, it is difficult to predict how far they are going to get.

As for the stats and facts, Wolves have won 45% of their last 20 home league games and Man City have lost 35% of their last 20 away league games. As for their H2H's, over the last ten years, the two sides have met 11 times. Wolves have won in 3 of the match-ups, while City have won 5. There have been 3 draws.
Half of those Wolves' games at home have ended with both teams scoring. They won 2, drew 3 and lost 5 of them. When it comes to City, they also finished 10 of their last 20 away league games with both teams scoring. They have 5 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat in those matches.
In their matches to date, there has been an average of 3.18 goals each match. Wolves score an average of 1.27 and Manchester City have scored an average of 1.91 per match. Last year in the Premier League Wolves averaged 1.4 goals for and 1 goal against. Manchester City, on the other hand, scored 2.5 goals and conceded 1.2 away from home.
