WOLVES VS CRYSTAL PALACE MATCH ANALYSIS
The Round Three of the FA Cup sees Wolves welcome Crystal Palace to Molineux for their FA Cup clash and for Wolves, the first of 3 home games. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have now gone four games without a win (D2, L2) in the Premier League and the Saturday’s draw at Brighton was particularly painful as they lost the two-goal lead in the second half. Crystal Palace, on the other hand, will head to Molineux with plenty of confidence in themselves after beating bottom-bound Sheffield Utd 2-0 last time out, ending a run of five games without a victory (D3, L2).
With 3 home games coming up hopefully Wolves can get at least a couple of positive results to keep the season going in the right direction. Despite their injury problems they have played well in recent games against Chelsea, Man Utd, and Spurs and should really have won at Brighton but for a silly penalty given away and poor defending from a corner. But having 6 first-team players out injured inevitably takes its toll as it would for any club.
Wolves are badly missing Raul Jimenez. The Mexico international's absence has shown a bluntness in the attack, with youngster Fabio Silva still learning his trade. Pedro Neto has impressed, while Daniel Podence and Adama Traore could prove to be crucial if they want to challenge for the top-six again. Will they bring in another striker in January? Who knows? But this would be the ideal game to give the new man 90 minutes with his new teammates before the Premier League resumes.
As for the Eagles, they did have a difficult run of games and Roy Hodgson’s men were five matches without a win. The two terrible defeats against Liverpool (0-7) and Aston Villa (3-0) left the Eagles wary of the relegation threat, meaning another consecutive defeat could have sent them on a downward spiral dangerously close to the red zone. Fortunately for them, they bounced back against hapless Blades.
After five games without a victory, this was a welcome return to winning ways for Roy Hodgson's Palace with the highlight undoubtedly Eze's exceptional second goal of the seasons. Last season’s FA Cup campaign saw Palace knocked out of the competition at home by Championship side Derby County at this round and they last went out at this stage in consecutive seasons as a top-flight club between 1990/91 and 1992/93.

Wolves and Crystal Palace haven’t met in the FA Cup since February 2010, when Danny Butterfield scored a six-minute hat-trick for Palace in a 3-1 win at Selhurst Park.
Hopefully, Nuno Espirito Santo will field the strongest side possible but that may not be saying much unless they get a few of the guys back this week. It also remains to be seen whether Nuno now prioritizes the League or still fancies both. If it is the former, he may not rush anyone missing at the weekend back for the cup game. However, if they lose this one, the pressure will be on Nuno to deliver.
The Eagles have kept just two clean sheets in their last 25 Premier League games, conceding in each 15 in the competition since beating Southampton 1-0 on the opening day and the last one. A win against Sheffield Utd is a step in the right direction for Palace, who made amends for those recent painful defeats. As has so often been the case this season, they will look for Zaha to provide the Eagles' inspiration, while Eze will be a man to watch, too.
