WOLVES VS LEICESTER MATCH ANALYSIS
Wolves’ put an end to their terrible winless run (D3, L5) after a hard-fought 2-1 win against Arsenal in midweek. Adrift of the battle for European qualification, they’re far from embroiling in a relegation fight but have now slipped to 14th. As for Leicester, they were on a ten-game streak without a defeat in all competitions (W6, D4) and had won five consecutive games in all competitions – three in the Premier League - prior to their 1-3 defeat against Leeds at home last weekend. However, they have bounced back with a 2-0 win against relegation-threatened Fulham, and leapfrogged Liverpool in 3rd ahead of the weekend.
Prior to the Arsenal match, Wolves only won in the FA Cup - in Round 3 against Crystal Palace and Round 4 at Chorley - from their last ten fixtures in all competitions. The Midlands club have fallen from 7th to 14th in the table. Keeping a clean sheet has also been Wolves' problem - they kept a score to nil in the league only once in 16 matches. Nuno says he is very concerned about the situation, but it is unlikely his side will be caught up in a relegation battle.
On Wednesday, Wolves came from behind to beat Arsenal Wednesday - their first league win since before Christmas. In truth, however, they were massively fortunate to benefit from two Arsenal red cards as they were being outplayed prior to that. Pepe’s 14th goal in this campaign put the Gunners ahead. At that point, it looked like Arsenal would run away with the match, but the penalty and first red card on the stroke of half-time changed everything, with the Gunners unable to create any real opportunities in the second half.
The Foxes, on the other hand, spoiled their perfect start to 2021, with a home loss to Leeds, as Rodgers had overseen nine games without a defeat after being in danger of dropping off the pace in the title race with their little slump in November. The Foxes have clearly shown their title credentials and it is their form on the road which has propelled them into title contention this season - they have only tasted victory in four of their last ten top-flight home matches.
As for their latest win on the road, the Foxes now have the second-best away record in the Premier League, with eight wins from 11 matches after their comfortable win at the Craven Cottage. Brendan Rodgers’ side strengthened their top-four push courtesy of two superb assists from Maddison that steered the Foxes to victory. Only Man Utd have collected more points on their travels and with key duo, Ndidi and Vardy set to return against Wolves, they are favourites to win again away from home.

Wolves have failed to score in their last three encounters with Leicester and in five from seven, while Leicester, uncharacteristically, concerning their current momentum, have won just two of their last 19 away matches against Wolves in all competitions (D7 L10).
Having their best player out injured has taken its toll on Nuno’s men as it would on any club. The Mexico international Raul Jimenez’s absence has shown the bluntness in the attack time and time again, with youngster Fabio Silva still learning his trade. They need a string of good results to get them closer to where they think they belong.
On the other hand, after their midweek win against Fulham, the ‘Foxes’ have scored exactly two goals in six of their previous nine PL matches and won 26 away points in the PL this season (W8, D2, L1). That is the second-highest return in the league and Leicester’s best since the fairytale 2015/16 campaign.
