Wolves host Man Utd at the Molineux Stadium (Wolverhampton) in the final 38th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 4 pm (UK) on Sunday, May 23. Read our reasons for Wolves vs Man Utd prediction and betting tips.
Wolves fans will be glad to see the back of this season. It's been miserable for the most part and they cannot improve on their current 12th place finish, though could drop a few positions if they lose here and results go against them elsewhere on the final day. Meanwhile, Man Utd have really stuttered their way to the finish line since qualifying for the Europa League final. They are guaranteed to finish second and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will field an entirely second-string XI here with an eye on next week's final. Matches between Wolves and United have generally been abysmal in recent years and there is no reason why that will change here.
After losing 1-0 at Everton on Wednesday, the Wanderers have now won just one of their last five Premier League matches (W1, D1, L3). On top of being without a first-half strike in six of their last seven fixtures, the side from the Midlands have also failed to score in four competitive head-to-head matches against United (D2, L2). Also, after successive seventh-placed finishes and a foray into the latter stages of the Europa League, Wolves are now consigned to a bottom-half finish in the Premier League.
While they can hope for an improvement in the future, their fans will be hoping even more for Jimenez to return to action as soon as possible. For it turns out, when he picked up his season-ending injury, his side's season ended at the same time. It has culminated in one pretty miserable season for the Wolves. Having spent a fortune on the likes of Silva and full-back Nelson Semedo, they have struggled to recapture the intensity which made them one of the most exciting and successful newly-promoted clubs back in 2018/19.
As for Man Utd, they will be bidding to wrap up second place in the Premier League and they can sign off in style at Molineux. United played three games in the space of five days last week, winning 3-1 at Aston Villa before home defeats to Leicester (1-2) and Liverpool (2-4), and they managed only a 1-1 tie with relegated Fulham in midweek. However, United has not lost any of their last 25 league matches on the road and should see off a disappointing Wolves side.
Confirmed runners-up are now mainly focused on next week's Europa League final, and as such, Ole Gunnar Solskjær will likely rest players following Tuesday’s draw with Fulham. The visitors are still aiming to complete a top-flight away campaign without losing - a feat achieved just three times since the inaugural Football League season began in 1888. Strangely, conceding first may be as much of a blessing as an obstacle, as they could also match the existing PL record for points recovered from losing positions (34).

Wolves meet Man Utd having alternated between winning (3) and not winning (D1, L2) in their six Premier League home games against the Red Devils, with the last such meeting ending 1-1. Also, Man Utd have lost just one of their last seven top-flight meetings with Wolves (W3, D3), going down 2-1 at Molineux in April 2019.
None of these two teams’ last five meetings have finished with one side scoring more than a single goal – in fact, all of them ended with under 2.5 goals scored. With both teams having next to nothing to play for, we expect more of the same here.
BettingKick’s Wolves vs Man Utd prediction is: Under 2.5 goals
