1 - 1
Wolves host Newcastle at the Moulinex in the 6th round of the Premier League on Sunday, October 25 and the match kicks off at 4.30pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
Wolves made a good start to their season with an opening away win (0-2) at Sheffield, which was followed by a second week defeat against Man City at the Moulinex, where the visitors were too strong (1-3) and got their revenge for the last campaign's double defeat. They followed it with another rather surprising 4-0 defeat to West Ham in London, which was their worst Premier League defeat since 2012, then bounced back with two wins in a row - against Fulham (1-0) and Leeds (0-1) in the previous round which moved them up the table to 6th place with 9 points.
Newcastle are 13th in the table with 7 points from their first five Premier League matches. They won on the opening day against West Ham in London (0-2), then lost at home to Brighton (0-3), and drew with Tottenham in London (1-1). In the 5th round, they were too strong for Burnley (3-1), but finished the last week with a home defeat to Manchester Utd (1-4) after taking an early lead through Luke Shaw’s own goal.
MATCH ANALYSIS
After being thrashed by West Ham in the third round (4-0), the visit of a Fulham team who were yet to earn a point on their return to the top flight seemed an ideal opportunity for Wolves to get back on track and Pedro Neto's goal helped them return to winning ways. They recorded the 2nd win on the trot away to Leeds, which moved them up into 6th in the Premier League, and according to defender Conor Coady, was a "massive result" as Wolves have won three of their first five games (L2) of a top-flight campaign for the first time since 1979-80.Fans of the West Midlands club were also buoyed by the news that the club had secured the long-term services of captain Conor Coady and that Traore is close to agreeing a new deal. Wolves have kept more home clean sheets in the Premier League in 2020 than any other side (7) in their last 9 league matches at the Moulinex and the Leeds win will give them a huge boost ahead of Newcastle match on Sunday.
As for Newcastle, after a controversial last-ditch penalty earned them a draw against Tottenham, where Newcastle didn't do much in the game and were too cautious, the Magpies bounced back with a home win against Burnley where Saint-Maximin shone as he scored and set up Callum Wilson for another. Newcastle had won just 1 of their past 8 home league games prior to Burnley's arrival at St James' Park and they got back on the losing ways at home again in a 1-4 defeat to Man Utd after they shipped three late goals in otherwise fine performance. Ahead of their Sunday match they cannot count on midfielder Matt Ritchie, , who is facing a lengthy absence as he is set to have a shoulder operation, and Dwight Gayle with knee injury, but goalkeeper Dubravka could be in contention as they visit Wolverhampton next.

As for some stats and facts, these two teams have been involved in 12 matches in the last 10 years, with the Magpies having a slightly better record with 4 wins to Wolves’ 3. However, Newcastle have not won since February 2017 while they were still competing in the second tier.
Since then, Wolves are unbeaten in their head-to-head matches (W2-D3).
Interestingly, both team have averaged 1.33 goals during this period.
Despite seven places separating these two teams in the league table, there are only 2pts between them, with both having goal difference of -2.
Wolves have kept two clean sheets in their last two matches and appear to be strengthening in that department, which is why a flurry of goals is not expected on Sunday.
However, Wolves should have enough fire-power to overcome their opponents at the weekend,
So, the prediction for this match is: Wolves win.
