Wolves host Sheffield Utd at the Moulinex Stadium (Wolverhampton) in the 32nd round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8.15 pm (UK) on Saturday, April 17. Read our reasons for Wolves vs Sheffield Utd prediction and betting tips.
A goalless draw against Scott Parker's battlers Fulham seemed a certainty for Wolves on Friday night, but Adama Traore had other ideas, getting off the mark for the season with an unstoppable effort in the 92nd minute. The victory lifts Wolves to12th in the table, though it is still of considerable disappointment to many given pre-season expectations. As for Sheffield Utd, the Blades have long lost a chance to salvage something from a miserable season, in which they have languished at the bottom of the league. Paul Heckingbottom has not managed to inspire a change in fortunes since being put in charge until the end of the season as they are sat 18 points from safety with only eight league games remaining.
Traore had contributed little for the previous 49 Premier League matches but when released down the right and up against some tired defensive legs in the 92nd minute against Fulham, he seized his chance, firing a drive past Alphonse Areola. It has taken Wolves to 38 points, 12 clear of Fulham and surely now safe from getting dragged into the relegation fight, but, it was not without cost, though, with Pedro Neto leaving the field injured in the first half.
Wolves registered only their second away Premier League win in their past 11 matches (D4, L5), also beating Southampton in February and seem miles away from a club that finished seventh for the past two seasons, reached an FA Cup semi-final and progressed to the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Whether it’s 4231, or 343 after Neto’s injury, the Wanderers risk being left devoid of any sort of identity. Nevertheless, Wanderers should have enough strength in depth to do the business here, though.
On the other hand, four games and four defeats, all following a similar theme to the ones from before his arrival, have left the under 23 coach under no illusion about his main challenge. United have been uncharacteristically poor with the ball this season and have made life hard for themselves, winning only four times in the league. A constant turnover of possession and the gifting of cheap goals has been the source of the Blades' downfall, and Heckingbottom believes fragile confidence is to blame for that lack of quality.
The Blades have also scored the fewest number of goals in the Premier League with 17 in 31 games. Defeat against arsenal was their 26th defeat of the campaign in all competitions - 12 more than they suffered last season and would be happy if the season ended now. However, despite the fact that Sheffield Utd are doomed to relegation, they may see their visit to the Moulinex Stadium as a second-best chance to claim their first away way before going down.

Wolves meet Sheffield Utd looking to secure their first league double over Sheffield United since the 2013-14 League One campaign, following their 2-0 win at Bramall Lane earlier this season. Wolves could still sneak into the top half of the PL table with a strong finish to the season and should see off Sheffield Utd with ease. The Blades are bound for the Championship next term and have only scored one goal in a run of five consecutive league and cup defeats.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
