WOLVES VS SOUTHAMPTON MATCH ANALYSIS
2020/21 has been a largely miserable campaign for Espirito Santo’s side, who find themselves in 14th in the Premier League, some way off the battle for European football. They have won just one of their past 10 Premier League matches but have found some fortune in the FA Cup. Crystal Palace were the first to fall in an all-Premier League tie, before non-league Chorley were cast aside in the fourth round, both 1-0 wins for Wolves. Meanwhile, the new year was looking bright for Southampton when they started with a 1-0 win over Liverpool, ending a four-game winless run that had seen them drop down the table. However, since then the wheels have well and truly fallen off in the Premier League. Saints have lost their past five league games, but, like Wolves, they have found solace in the FA Cup, beating Shrewsbury Town and Arsenal en route to the fifth round.
Prior to the Arsenal match on February 2, Wolves only won in the FA Cup - in Round 3 against Crystal Palace and Round 4 at Chorley - from their ten fixtures in all competitions. The Midlands club have fallen from 7th to 14th in the table. Also, keeping a clean sheet has been a huge Wolves' problem - they kept a score to nil in the league only twice in 17 matches. Nuno says he is very concerned about the situation, but it is unlikely his side will be caught up in a relegation battle.
Having won just one of their last 10 Premier League matches, Wolves registered just one shot on target when they took on Leicester this past weekend. Their standards have slipped in the absence of their main striker Raul Jimenez and have failed to score a goal in eight Premier League matches this term. Wolves defeated sixth-tier side Chorley FC by a modest 1-0 scoreline in the fourth round, which also emphasized how severely they lack in the finishing department.
Southampton, on the other hand, have now failed to score in six of their past nine Premier League games. A run of one win in ten, including five successive defeats, has seen the visitors drop down to 12th on the back of a 9-0 humiliation at the Old Trafford and a following 3-2 defeat at Newcastle. It must be noted that injuries and suspensions have decimated the Saints’ squad, but they have been, nevertheless, conceding goals far too easily.
Takumi Minamino is cup-tied for Southampton having already featured in the FA Cup for Liverpool and joins a host of players out for Ralph Hasenhuttl. Also missing are Alexandre Jankewitz (suspended), Stuart Armstrong, Ibrahima Diallo, Theo Walcott, Michael Obafemi, and William Smallbone, while Kyle Walker-Peters is a doubt. With Ings, who has found the net just once in his past 10 games, in poor form, Southampton may struggle again on the road.

This will be the fifth FA Cup meeting between Wolves and Southampton, with each side winning twice in the previous four. Southampton won the last meeting 2-0 in March 2003, en route to reaching the final that season. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will be hoping to reach the quarter-finals for the second time in three seasons, while Southampton last reached the final eight in 2017/18.
Wolves have lost just one of their last 10 meetings with Southampton in all competitions (W5 D4), with their league meeting with Saints at Molineux this season, ending 1-1. However, the Saints have a better overall record, with 8 wins to Wolves' 5 in their last 20 meetings.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
