Wolverhamton have been drawn at home against Stoke City in the second round of the Carabao Cup. The game will go ahead on Thursday, 17 September at the Moulinex and the match will kick off at 7pm (UK). Nuno Espirito Santo's team host the Potters between their Premier League opener against Sheffield United and the home match against Manchester City. Stoke beat Blackpool in a penalty shoot-out in the first round on August 29, while Wolves enter Carabao Cup at this point.
Wolves exceeded the expectations in 19/20 by finishing 7th for a second successive campaign, but this time they went all the way to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League where they lost to Sevilla who later lifted the cup. They have added new faces to their squad in the last few weeks which will surely make them an incredibly exciting team to watch again and without Europe, who knows, maybe they can surprise again in the league and go further in the domestic cups.
When it comes to new ins and outs, apart from Matt Doherty, who went to Spurs, they managed to fend off potential buyers for their star player Raul Jimenez, which is a good piece of business in itself. As for new signings, they broke their club record transfer fee for a teenager from Porto, Fabio Silva and also signed Fernando Marcal from Lyon and midfielder Vitinha from Porto.
Stoke, some might say, are still hurting from their premier League exit a few seasons ago and it is time they accepted the fact. Back-to-back bottom half finishes in the Championship prove that there's a lot of work to be done, but Michael O'Neill's short reign at the helm has seen some positive developments and it will be exciting to see how much he can achieve over a full season.
Meanwhile, Stoke City started their Championship season at the weekend with a tricky away match against Millwall and come away with a point in a goalless draw. Chester, John Obi Mikel and Morgan Fox started the game for Stoke, while Steven Fletcher and Jacob Brown made their debuts from the bench, meaning all five new signings made their debuts for the Potters, and are expected to be in the team in midweek.

This is Stoke's first journey to Molineux since December 2011, a match which some still remember for Jonathan Woodgate ending an experiment at right-back after just 19 minutes. Eventually, Stoke went on to win 2-1.However, their latest face-off was at the bet365 Stadium in the FA Cup in 2017 when Wolves were still in the Championship with Paul Lambert as their manager and they won the tie 2-0. Winner of the second round clash between Wolves and Stoke will host Gillingham or Coventry City in the third round.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
