WOLVES VS TOTTENHAM MATCH ANALYSIS
Wolves’ visit to Turf Moor didn’t go as planned as they suffered an unexpected 2-1 defeat at the hands of relegation candidates, Burnley. The loss left them in 10th place in the standings after picking up 20 points in the league so far. They host Tottenham, who had fallen down the table to 6th with 25 points after back-to-back defeats against Liverpool at Anfield (2-1) and Leicester at home (0-2). They have only one win in their last five league games (D2, L2) and will be looking to get back in the top-four if possible.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s me have been blowing hot and cold recently. After losing key players Matt Doherty and Diogo Jota to other Premier League clubs, it took Wolves a little time for new players to ease in. The loss of Raul Jimenez through head injury is a big blow, but youngsters like Pedro Neto and Podence have established themselves in the first XI. However, Wolves are yet to score more than twice in a Premier League match so far this season, which came back to bite them again against Burnley at the weekend.
Against Wolves, Ashley Barnes scored his first goal in more than a year to put Burnley ahead and Chris Wood then reacted quickest from close range and doubled Burnley's lead. Teenager Fabio Silva converted the penalty for his first Wolves goal late on but the hosts were able to see out their victory. Wolves struggled to seriously trouble a resilient Clarets back four before their late spot-kick and remain 10th.
As for Tottenham, they have been playing some of the best football recently under Mourinho. The deadly double act of Kane and Son Heung-min that have been at the heart of their renaissance have now combined for 33 Premier League goals, the second most of any duo ever behind former Chelsea players Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard (36). Maybe it’s the early days, but the consistency, clinical approach, and relentless efficiency of Spurs under Jose Mourinho mean they resemble a side who can have a big say in the Premier League title race.
However, their latest woes are a testimony of how tight the Premier League is going to be this year. Against Leicester, in a ferocious battle between the teams starting the day third and fourth in the standings, Spurs one point above the Foxes, it was the latter who established themselves as champions Liverpool's closest challengers courtesy of Jamie Vardy's penalty and a Toby Alderweireld own goal. After topping the league for a couple of weeks, they are now in 6th, looking for the way back to the top-four.

Wolves arrived at Turf Moor amid their best start to a top-flight season in 41 years, but they have at times struggled to build momentum this term. However, they have lost just one of their last six at Molineux and in the absence of Raul Jimenez, Nuno Espirito Santo could opt to include a club-record signing Silva in the starting eleven against Spurs.
Tottenham secured the spot in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup with a 3-1 win at Stoke on Wednesday night. Their record at Wolves is also solid, with Spurs winning their last three visits to the Midlands.
The away team has come out on top in five of the last six games between these two and it wouldn't be a shock to see that run continue on Sunday night.
