WOLVES VS WEST BROM MATCH ANALYSIS
Wolves have now gone five games without a win (D2, L3) in the Premier League and the midweek 1-2 defeat at home against Everton was no improvement on their part. They are sitting in 14th place with 22 points and will look to end the barren run with a home win in order to keep their top-six hopes alive. As for WBA, it’s been a tough start in the Premier League for the Baggies, who won only once in seventeen league games (W1, D5, L11). Following the club’s appointment of survival expert Sam Allardyce, WBA took a point off the reigning champions at Anfield but negated all that with terrible showings against Leeds (5-0) and Arsenal (4-0) at home next. They remain second bottom, six points from safety coming into the weekend.
With the last of the three home games coming up for Wolves, hopefully they can get a win here to keep the season going in the right direction. But having 6 first-team players out injured inevitably takes its toll as it would for any club. The Mexico international Raul Jimenez’s absence has shown a bluntness in attack, with youngster Fabio Silva still learning his trade. Pedro Neto has impressed, while Daniel Podence and Adama Traore could prove to be crucial if they want to challenge for one of the European berths.
However, after their latest disappointing loss in the league, Wolves have only won one of their last eight matches (D2, L5). Against Everton on Tuesday, Wolves sought only their second win in eight games. The Midlands club have fallen from seventh to 14th in the table and even though they clearly miss a natural finisher, the build-up play has rarely been found wanting. Against Everton, the likes of Pedro Neto and Neves dictated play beautifully in the opposition third, while 19-year-old Ait-Nouri was exceptional as an attacking left-back. What was lacking was bite, because aside from Neves' late free-kick, which hit the bar, Everton keeper Jordan Pickford was untroubled in the second half.
On the other hand, West Brom's fortunes showed no immediate turnaround with the managerial change, as they lost their opening game under new boss Sam Allardyce. But the Baggies seemed to be adapting to Big Sam's philosophy when they held league leaders Liverpool to a 1-1 draw away from home on the Boxing Day. However, after encouraging 1-1 at Anfield, Allardyce saw his team outclassed by newcomers Leeds and Arsenal.
The Baggies hit the new low on Sunday when they crashed out of the FA Cup at their first hurdle after they were on the receiving end of a classic competition shock at the hands of League One Blackpool. Albion had conceded nine goals in their past two Premier League games and were breached on the break for both of Blackpool's goals. They did manage to get the equaliser, but eventually lost on penalties. Now, Albion must go to Molineux on the back of a cup upset and without a useful shot in the arm.

The Midlands club have fallen from seventh to 14th in the table and keeping a clean sheet has also been the Wolves' problem - the last time they kept a score to nil in the league was 12 games ago. Nuno says he is very concerned about the situation, but it is unlikely his side will be caught up in a relegation battle.
West Brom’s eight-match form (W1, D2, L5) is identical to Wolves, but they enter this game as clear outsiders having suffered three defeats ‘to nil’ by at least a three-goal margin across their previous four PL games. Given their position in the relegation zone, this would be a good time for the ‘Baggies’ to record a first away league win of the season (D3, L5).
